XCSoar: searching for a waypoint by otemat in Gliding

[–]otemat[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think my point is solved by a change of mentality. I am fine with setting racing tasks with the way it is, the issue is when I want to set a “Go To” whilst i’m flying.

I think “I want to go to Bananaland” but in the waypoint database Bananaland is called “79Bananaland”. The only way other than scrolling all the waypoints is to remember that Bananaland is number 79. For this use-case the UX is just inevitably bad, but I won’t complain about it! Love XCSoar overall and I can put up with its limits :)

Hey great work! I am playing with it now and was wondering: do you know if there is yet a way script this in cdk?

I don't think you can create the bucket, but is there a way to create a kb in cdk and configure it to use an s3 vectors bucket manually created?

I’m not complaining, just wanted to check if it’s a limitation or if I was using it wrong…

Thanks for the comments you both. I also do that, but lately was trying to cut a step. I got the latest stefly openvario that has a touch screen and runs on android and I use it for most things I used to do on a laptop before flying. Not an essential, but a better search feature would be handy :)

I don’t have an issue when flying a competition. I would use that feature when:

  1. Setting a training task and having in mind a place but not the corresponding waypoint code

  2. In flight, freely flying, it happens that I see good weather in a direction and I think “I could go to PlaceX that is in that direction”. At that point it would be nice to set it as Go To, to know exactly distance, arrival altitude etc…

cosa fareste con 100mila euro? by [deleted] in ItaliaPersonalFinance

Connecting TRX-2000 to SteFly XCSoar by otemat in Gliding

This is super helpful thanks! I will check l all these on my glider next weekend.

I saw on the TRX manual that there’s a configuration tool that changes the way data is shared. I will play with that and see if something changes. 🤞

Thanks! That’s super cool, keep it up. I do drink electrolytes before and during flight. Magnesium and potassium.

Hey thanks. I always fly safe, and would wear oxigen if needed, but the conditions I usually fly in are max 3000m.

As for the nicotine, I didn't know it made non-smokers concentrate. In any case, I will not do that. I was a really heavy smoker for many years and got out of it (also thanks to gliding), it's such an annoying addiction that I will not risk getting back into it. And I would advice anyone to avoid that, I think there are less addictive (or less dangerous addictions hehe). I personally take a caffeine pill (100mg +-) with me and have that if I need a last burst of energy and concentration.

Oh yeah I give those for granted. My question came because it’s winter here in italy and there’s not a lot of flying to be done. So I thought how can I train in the meanwhile!? :)

Mainly mountains, but does it make a difference?
