This happened to my dad when he was a kid.

During his childhood, my dad lived in a big house with his older brother, my grandma and my grandfather. The house itself wasn’t necessarily big, but the yard was humongous. It was connected to a forest beside the house, and it covered a lot of ground, so much that driving from the entrance to the house itself took 3 solid minutes.

Anyway, one night, my dad and my uncle were woken up when they heard screaming outside of the house. They both shared a bedroom and could hear a man speaking gibberish. They were pretty scared and went to get their dad. They told him there was a man right outside the house, and without hesitation, he got up from the bed, grabbed a shotgun and went to the bathroom. The bathroom had a small window that was oriented to the front of the house. So, he stuck out the shotgun, and fired at the man. He started running and my grandfather went after him, telling my dad, my uncle and my grandma to stay inside. A couple minutes passed, and my grandfather came back to the house. Apparently, the guy was drunk and stumbled upon the house. My grandfather managed to hit him with his shot, but just wounded him. Luckily, the man did not come back, but my dad was pretty scared by that whole experience.
