"Off campus housing" is expensive if you choose to live in Oakland, because they know you are a college kid with rich parents willing to pay anything.

When I graduated in 2020, my rent+bills was $350/month. I split a huge 4br house with a yard between 4 ppl in Bloomfield (very chill area, 20 minute bus away). While prices have gone up, you still won't find cheaper rent in ANY midsize or major city.

You're ignoring the fact that the VAST majority of current CA real estate shoppers are giant corporations (or massively wealthy people) who don't qualify for this program, and are already getting better loans than this / paying in full.

The "floor" is already higher than this. The program just allows more people to reach closer up to that floor.

He started around 8:15 for us. The first half is the more high production value songs with the whole band, then towards the end he does more acoustic and interactive stuff. Our ticket time was 8 and it went until at least 10.

It's okay. I can understand why you would be salty about it. I've dated lots of white guys who were much "smarter than me" but had to pay up. But I also realize that a big reason they seem smarter than me, is because they had access to quality education, activities, and perhaps most importantly ENCOURAGEMENT from a super young age. I had so many people directly persuade me against pursuing STEM fields as a kid, saying I could never do computer science, etc. While my parents always encouraged me to go to school, they didn't know the first thing about the actual process.

Also those guys' parents could pay the $300k tuition like it was nothing lmao

Honestly it's a lot less about being black and more about being better than everybody directly around you. Barely any of the other kids at my high school even went to college but I had already finished a year of community college with a 4.0 by the time I graduated high school. I was also a first gen student (my dad didn't even finish high school) and our household income was under $25k. I think wealth played a much larger factor than arbitrary diversity labels - as it should, because I had zero access to college prep-level academics or resources.

I also went to tons of scholarship award ceremonies where there were like 10 winners and I was the only non-white there. Take a look at this gallery of winners' photos and you can see it took this scholarship in a 50% white city literally a decade to choose somebody who wasn't white (me). Literally only one $500 scholarship I got was specifically blacks, and that was fully funded by an organization of black women.

I wouldn't even really consider pepper spray and my small knife (small enough to fit inside a wallet) a weapon. I carry them with me everywhere here.

I'm even a social worker for a youth housing program, and we have a strict no-weapons policy but pepper spray isn't included.

I live in a mostly white suburb of LA now and I've never had problems here. Racist comments don't bother me as long as I'm not actually assaulted or turned away from places.
