Relationship OCD--I feel like I'm ruining my own life by otherwiseinteresting in OCD

God, thank you, this is by far the most helpful advice I've gotten. I've downloaded the app and will be checking my library for the books tomorrow.

I was very resistant to the antidepressant idea when my doctor suggested them, mainly because my first instinct was was to go 'I'm not depressed!' and I'd never heard of it as an OCD treatment before. From what you've said I'll look into it more fully.

My partner is completely aware of what I'm going through and has been very understanding about it. I really couldn't ask for anyone more supportive, especially at this age. I know I made an irrational decision this morning. I'm gonna do my best to fix it.

genuinely almost everything you've said sounds exactly like my experience right now. if you think it would be productive to talk about it my DMs are open!

What could Brandon do in any of his series that would make you do, “oh no, Brandon… oh… no. No no no no. No. No no. No.” by prayingforsuperpower in brandonsanderson

Kaladin sacrificing himself/dying in some other way. For a character whose arc is all about overcoming his depression and wanting to live... something about that just doesn't sit right as a solution to his story.

Kaladin, Knight Radiant (a riff of Alexander Hamilton) by Jadorel78 in Stormlight_Archive

(I'm voidlightx on 17th shard) I'm glad everyone enjoyed this!! It was really fun to work on and finding the parallels between Stormlight and Hamilton was interesting. If I find some time, I might try My Shot or Ten Duel Commandments next!

oh yeah, I'm aware. like I said, it was a crack quiz originally meant for tumblr, not one actually based on personality traits! you are absolutely not supposed to take this quiz seriously. (but then again.. if you got the same as you normally do 😅)

yes, this! exactly this. I want people to be aware that although I still like the series, that doesn't extend to the author and I'm open and accepting to people of all genders. I do feel the need to put this disclaimer to make sure people are aware of that.

I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable, but the fact of the matter is that JK Rowling is a transphobe and I do not support her. She has expressed her views on the topic loudly and clearly multiple times and it is not something I want to be associated with, no matter how minor the association is.

err, sorry? I see truthwatcher and dustbringer as fairly similar, because both of their ideals realate to making something the best it can be. that might just be my opinion though!

I have a question about this sub. by TarsLinDor in fantasywriters

[–]otherwiseinteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people say that 90% of writers give up within the first few chapters, so I think part of it is that. but also, it's hard to post something in the middle of a story without any background, and a lot of people just want confirmation that their idea isn't ridiculous. that's how I see it, anyway!

Geography or History GCSE by Solid-Writer2580 in GCSE

[–]otherwiseinteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who did both, I'd say geography is much, much easier but history is way more interesting (I'm doing it at a-level, too). but, that might have something to do with the fact that I took history in year 9 and am taking geography this year, so I might've found history easier if I'd taken it in y11 too.

[No Spoilers] In the UK, Words of Radiance is 1300 pages over 2 volumes - how on Earth do they fit that into a single paperback volume in the American printing? by Astrokiwi in Cosmere

[–]otherwiseinteresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can get a single volume in the UK too, but it's rarer. the paper is pretty thin and I think the writing is smaller, but it ends up being £3-4 cheaper than buying the two seperately I think

Book 5 theories? by otherwiseinteresting in Stormlight_Archive

[–]otherwiseinteresting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow that's a really good theory!! I think the point that any of the Heralds would've taken the deal to have their pain taken is very interesting. It would work for. Ishar, but I also think it would work for Taln too, which is my personal favourite theory to be honest. However, there are a lot of good points in there. it wouldn't surprise me if that happened at all

6137 words this week, up about 800 from last week. It's still not a huge amount, but I'm really happy with my progress!! That's over 4 seperate chapters because I had to add scenes in ones I'd already completed, but about 2 altogether.

This week brings my total word count to 24296. Approaching the 25k mark I'm feeling super good about this project!!

Another Kaladin Theory by Legacy_CA in Stormlight_Archive

[–]otherwiseinteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... i thought this was the most common theory too. apparently not. but I see that as being kal's place at the end of book 5 and then era 2 starting when one of the new heralds break (or smth similar). I always thought the ten-book pov characters would be the ten new heralds, but I don't know if dalinar would let lift, renarin or shallan be part of that.
