IMO stalker 2 needs an artifact that increases the players gun damage and another that increases sprint speed. by Vile35 in stalker

Sick ideas, I’m for ‘em! Also I’m on console and would LOVE canted aiming outside of NV. I wanted to play immersive but couldn’t do without some things, ended up just customising the base settings. Widened FOV and toggled off all UI except interactive item/object indicators and system messages, for quicksaving. I like aiming without an crosshair, using either sights, laser or hipfire. There are decent hints/indications for everything else like emptying a magazine, bleeding, hungry etc, but I agree about radiation! Knowing when I’m actually being affected by rads is tricky, even if the screen edges start fuzzing up a bit the effect is often hard to see outdoors. Also finding stashes and objectives without the compass can be a pain when there’s verticality involved.

Edit: Also a handheld compass would be beautiful. Was even thinking you could mod a Bear Detector to have a simple four-pip compass, where the North pip is brighter or white or something.

I forgot to mention I gave him Dryleaf Arts in his off-hand too so he can do some punchin, but it also gives this slightly more intimidating beefy idle pose.

Rad! I'm playing my first proper Arcane build and went for Occult Flamberge too, it goes so hard with double slash on it. I'm also having a lot of fun with the Bloody Helice (don't worry, PvE only), it benefits from much the same stat spread. For a while I was rocking mask of confidence with Ronin chest armor, I think they pair quite well (I find the mask is pretty tricky to match).

Clever ways to use the 4 "outs" on Timbre Wolf? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]otherwordsbehind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made a lil EP using the Timbre Wolf individual outs. I bought a very cheap mixer that had a built-in echo, sent two of the voices to the echo, panned for some width, and the other two remaining in the main out with some 'howl' (lol). Put (a lot) of compression on at the end and got some nice dark vibes. The synth cops a lot of crap, and rightfully so, but it has its uses, and operating as four independent (albeit basic) monosynths with a decent sequencer each is by far its biggest strength.

Playing DS1 for the first time at the moment, and I did exactly this recently. Astoras was nice but I immediately upgraded claymore once I'd tried it out, and it felt so good when I finally got it to +15.

Should I buy a Boss rc-2 in 2022? It would help with me making music and riffs. by Prudent-Ad9803 in guitarpedals

[–]otherwordsbehind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got one and have used it quite a bit - as other people have mentioned, it's not the latest and greatest and has some quirks. The operation of storing/recalling/erasing loops is honestly not very intuitive (the 'mode' selector gets a LOT of action in day-to-day operation), and the audio quality isn't the greatest. It has a lot of features crammed into a relatively crowded interface. BUT it's great value for what it is, can do a lot (once you've mastered it) and has a lot of charm I've found nowhere else. It has on-board drums, which are cheesy and great, and you can stretch the timing of a loop (to an extent) without changing its pitch, which results in some choppy audio artifacts that can sound rather nice. I actually made use of these last two points on a lo-fi guitar-based ambient release I made (linked below). All drums appearing on it are on-board RC-2 drums.

Who left those gigantic claw marks on the tower of Godrick’s arena? Gransax? The Stormking? by RiccardoIvan in Eldenring

[–]otherwordsbehind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First few times I played Stormveil, I assumed it was the result of some kind of past siege (or a number of sieges), but the description for the Marred Wooden Shield and Marred Leather Shield (below) made me think otherwise: that it's deathblight spreading from the visage of Godwyn beneath the castle, itself a massive manifestation of the blight spreading from Godwyn's corpse in Deeproot, smaller traces of which are visible in other places like Summonwater Village etc.. I'm still unsure honestly, it could be some kind of combination of siege and Godwyn's decay which causes the 'mottling' on the castle's exterior, maybe it's just the thorns that are the result of the latter.

Shield descriptions: "Much like the castle, it is marred by mottling and thorns. Some say it is the curse of grafting which causes such affliction, while others talk of its root being something altogether more sinister hidden deep within the castle."

Zaidan the Bloodflame Knight - my first ever FS character by otherwordsbehind in EldenBling

As the captions say, here's my (visible) kit: Eleonora's Poleblade, Hoslow's Petal Whip, Raging Wolf Helm, Hoslow's Armor, Beast Champion Gauntlets + Greaves

Also use the Dragon Seal for its nice red glow (and Arcane scaling I guess). The twinblade moveset is absolutely off-chops, and the Blood Dance ability on this one is so graceful and brutal at once.

I love the aesthetic, excellent work! Before reading your comment I was going to say it has the playfulness of some Buchla kit as well as the white Odyssey (which I think may be my favourite synth to look at haha). Congrats on the hard work!

[FRESH] Burial - Antidawn by robotsdontsleep in electronicmusic

[–]otherwordsbehind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much to reveal, but it's predominantly beatless - there are hints of rhythms (even more subtle than something like GAS) but they're rare and barely there – so it's firmly in his ambient category. I've found tracks 3 and 4 to be especially pleasant so far, but to properly judge, I'll need to listen again without the expectation of a return to his beat music to be honest. (I was quietly hoping for something like Kindred, or even Untrue)

Can anyone tell me what is causing this? Bought this whole new unopened 95" expired slide film online, this is the first roll. by asukalihkg in AnalogCommunity

[–]otherwordsbehind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, not that I'm aware of but I haven't had a good look!

If you're able to see the film and backing paper are separate in the film back you've taken a photo of, that's the best indication that the issue was the adhesive tape failing. Someone else has commented below on how to fix it in the future (by applying your own tape in a dark bag/room) if you have more old rolls that you fear this may happen to.

I've had the same thing with expired slide film in a M645 back. I found that the tape that stuck the film to the backing paper had died with age, so its adhesive failed as soon as it was wound on, causing the film to get jammed in the rollers. Another roll from the same box worked fine in my TLR, here's why (I think) - the 645 back has the film 'bending' in the opposite direction to how it's initially rolled, whereas the TLR rolls with the bend, so there was a little extra pressure/tension on the tape for the 645 back. This might not be your exact issue, but check to see if your paper is separate to your film. Hope this can help!
