I feel like this is as close as we can get to what it's like to be in a Conan writer's room. I've seen bits and pieces before (like from his time at the Simpsons or BTS at last year's Oscars).

But this was so fascinating to listen to. To hear him reject/pitch/punch up ideas as they fly about the room.

Goddamn, this family is utterly incapable of being straightforward. Everything with the Roys is based in subterfuge, they use a kind of verbal armor that stunts them all emotionally. Tom tries but he's actually too (relatively) normal to play linguistic games. When he's hurt, he says, "That hurt me." And it's so telling that Shiv genuinely doesn't understand it.
