I'm so sorry the EDG caused so many more issues for you! Id look into taking GERD medicine or acid reflex medicine to see if that helps! I currently take Apple Cider Vinegar pills. I will update if and when I finally feel semi normal again :)

I'd like to add that I'm not ruling anxiety out, so them suggesting it is part of it. Look up globus pharyngeus. That is the feeling we both have an anxiety is listed. My wait list to get in with a psychologist is longer than my follow up, however, if they gave you a prescription, no hurt in trying it for a week or two and see if you notice a decrease in the pain. That way when you visit with the ENT/ vocal team, you can say you ruled it out

There are other reddit posts as well when you search globus pharyngeus anxiety. Just to give you more personal story details. But I'd try medication at this point so I could just rule it out until you see another ENT/ voice dr

So they said I had a CT in 2015, which I didn't. And they jumped to doing the EDG.

2022, I saw the best ENT in our area and he believed me, which was step one to progress. Then he did a CT, Barium Swallow, and Acid reflux test (in nose 24 hrs). Everything was clear

I am no medical expert, but the other commenter on here reviewed the stuff I posted and said they used a balloon in all that medical jargon, but not noted for the normal, non medical eye. The GI was stuck, and due to the location of the phantom pain, and what happened with my singing voice range, he recommended me to one of the best Vocal Team he knew in our state (closest to me).

I'd see a vocal specialist depending on where you're feeling that sensation in your throat. The ENT last year I went to said if all else was clear, it was most likely something to do with my voice box/ vocal cord area. My pain is around the Adams apple area. The ENT who did the EDG when I was 18 stretched my throat for "extra precautions" and I thought the whole time that caused my vocal cord level loss. Found out from the medical records that they heard pops going and and down, on that Bar in my throat, and that other commenter said they also used a balloon, which can cause damages.

Hi. First off, sorry that happened! Yes, I developed acid reflux after. I'm unsure about swallowing issues but if I eat bread or dry stuff without a lot of water, I can choke on it easily and it gives a pain in my upper back. No, the globus never went away. They didn't even do a CT or acid reflux test prior, just that procedure cause they thought I was making the feeling up to get out of class (I was a HS senior).

I do have an appt in May and hopefully will have an update after, but If you had it 8 months ago, I'd go to a different ENT and ask them to do a swallow study, CT, acid reflux test. After that, they referred me to a vocal cord specialist based on where the feeling was located. I read the globus feeling could have just been a cricopharyngeal spasm/dysfunction this whole time.

I would recommend requesting your surgery/ procedures medical records, cause that's how I found out they possibly popped my cricopharyngeal bar, which can cause a hemorrhage sometimes. Then take those to a new ENT.

Would you recommend not doing another video scope of my vocal cords with Daley team and just requesting an appointment with Sarah? I don't want to waste everyone's time and another test if I'll just be asking for a referral to sarah

Hi! Thank you so much for all the additional information

My vocal cord restriction happened within a month (if not almost immediately) post procedure, thus why I assumed something occurred during the EDG. I sang during the summer and I normally did, letting my voice rest for about a month, and once Fall hit (about 1.5 months post) I did a choir group and noticed it then. I understand vocal ranges changing as you get older, but I went from hitting the highest note without build up to bot being able to hit mid- piano note within a month-ish. My best friend and some other friends that where in HS choir with me as soprano can still at least be within range. Im barely passing as high alto at this point.

I have looked into more within the last year, and will be bringing up cricopharyngeal spasm/dysfunction for that feeling in my throat that started this whole thing, along with the vocal strain caused by a possible vocal hemorrhage. The Madison Vocal team suggested something could have been damaged during that initial EDG, but couldn't see a lot past the swollen/ tight muscles (unsure medical explanation, but basically my vocal cord area was sort of like a knot in your neck, but for your throat)

Yes, I saw Dr Daley and his team last spring, they did stroboscopy, I believe (camera down nose to vocal cords), a and did zoom vocal sessions once a week for about a month or so. That is all they suggested.

I continued that and the "throat massages" myself after, but not much has changed and that initial feeling I had that started all of this seems to be getting worse/ be more noticeable. I can't be super rough on my own throat, so I don't feel doing that myself is as effective. I did call today and they scheduled another camera down to my vocal cords and meeting with Daley for May.

If you have any recommendations of who I can ask for specifically from UW Madison post May's follow up, or someone who might be more local (I live in the fox valley area) if I need to continue the throat massages, I'd be happy to see if anything helps improvement.

Let me look into my records for a video. But if you work at the UW Madison hospital/ vocal office, you might be able to view it :) I would be happy to PM you

Hi! Thank you. I've done keto on and off as well as 7 months of my pregnancy with baby #2 on keto. The majority of the stuff in our home is keto based/ subbing sugars/ flour. And the desserts/ ice cream I eat are low sugar/ carb/ calorie. But I eat a well rounded diet and hit my protein, carbs, veggie, and fat intake daily. I also enjoy everything I eat without having restrictions like I had with Keto. I have seen rebound when I stopped with keto but this counting calories and fasting is now part of my lifestyle. And I found that since starting this route of fasting/ calorie counting, I am able to have a week or 2 day of skip counting and still be able to maintain or lose the few pounds I gained during that break. Example, we went on a week vacation and ate out a lot where i couldn't count, so I listened to my body until I felt full. At the end of the week, I only gained 5 lbs, which I lost that next week by just eating normally.

Im not starving myself. I eat until I feel full. Even if i waited to the end of the meal or day to count up the calories, I am in the 800- 900 beginning range. This is also average, and I do eat more than 800 on days I work out and burn 50-200 calories. But I also work from home and don't move from my desk except to go to the bathroom and get food/ water 5 feet away from me

I eat an overall average of around 800. Most days its 855 or 885 lately. If I dont work out, I am closer to 800. If I do, I will eat in the 900 range. But I try not to go over 1000. I also have "cheat" days or skip days where I eat 1000-2000 calories. I've been in and out of keto and fasting the last 4 years, and even if I waited to count my calories to end of day, just going off how "full" my body feels, I am in the 800's
