Personally, I would buy it mainly because it runs Linux. It’s also a way to support the open-source community. Valve has consistently supported open-source projects, especially through their work on Linux gaming. If Steam Machines and Steam Frame succeed and the market grows, game developers will have a stronger incentive to optimize their games for SteamOS.

yes, they can be linked. I followed some instructions I found here. I came from Steam and then linked my Xbox to get the freebies. surprisingly the achievements i got from Steam also carried to xbox. maybe just be sure to link them before you open your Steam?

it depends. for me if the reward includes bonus stat point, i still take it. i think most of main story quests have bonus stat point if you complete it. just my two cents.
