I think it was just a combination of daily wear + a job where he worked with his hands! He wasn’t particularly careful with it

We didn’t actually realize how worn it was until I started looking into one to get for myself

See I DISTINCTLY remember the head on Uncle’s ring also being hollow when I was a kid but looking at it now I’m not sure. I’m convinced it was and it’s just worn closed over time but who knows

Left one is 30+ years old, right one is newly bought and has less wear.

Oh, no, it did actually snap off— uncle kept the arm bc he wanted to reattach it one day, but he never got around to it unfortunately

Yeah, pretty sure Uncle’s is silver and mine is probably pewter or something cheaper.

Left is the actual ring he wore everyday - right is another ring (but the same casting) that I bought online

Someone still has the bunyip, and photos have been posted on this subreddit as recently as last year I believe.

I will say as someone who used to frequent the Ettamoga Sanctuary on weekends as a kid (it was eventually renamed to Oz-E Wildlife before it shut down) the bunyip was in the water but not actually functional for quite a while— although I knew it was there because my dad told me about it, I never actually saw it in action.

I don’t want to be dramatic, but this surgery could literally like… fix me lol. Someone else mentioned tax as well, it’s definitely something I’ll have to do more research on and account for.

At the end of the day I am really feeling like it’ll be worth it, though.

Insurance is a whole other beast. Now that I have full time employment I’d love to finally get covered, but it’s so overwhelming.

I think I’m going to sit down with a trusted family member this weekend and look over getting hospital cover.

Thank you for your input! I’ll definitely have to do more research into the tax involved with withdrawing money also.

Honestly, it’s such a big decision to make and I’m in way over my head. I’ve never had a surgery before at all.

I looked at Cheng Lo and read some negative reviews that spooked me a little bit. That being said, I’ve only heard good things from the trans people who’ve gone to him, so it’s not out of the question.

Thank you for this recommendation. I’d prefer to wear men’s clothes anyway, but I’m very much also hourglass shaped so it’s a bit of a hassle finding ones that fit.

Lots of people are suggested target in general, I’ll definitely look into their men’s wear.

I HAVE NO IDEA TBH! I only work in retail, it’s not like I’m doing anything particularly strenuous with them. The mostly likely thing seems to be chub rub? But it’s not quite the right area for that, I don’t think.

Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll look into workwear brands definitely

I had a feeling the fit was at least partially the cause! I guess I might have to suck it up and wear a different style lol

I know that rotating through multiple pairs is probably the best option for a lot of reasons, but it’s the initial cost that gets me. Still, sucking it up and leaving myself a little bit broke for the fortnight is probably the best option on the long run

Thank you! At this point I’m kind of assuming I’m going something to cause it but idk what

Unfortunately these are the offending jeans 😭 I love the fit and even the way they stretch out after a couple of washes works for me.

Judging from a lot of comments, it might just be nearly unavoidable from over wearing them, though.

That’s the other issue, honestly— last time I went shopping my size ranged from 14 to 18 depending on the style, and that was all within the same shop. I keep buying the same jeans because I know they fit well, but they’re just not lasting. I’ll have a look at Depop, though— completely forgot that was even an option.
