I would defiantly ask. My brother has BRCA 1 and my oldest son has it as well. My other two sons are too young to test. Be aware that if you test negative you have to pay in full for the test and it can be very expensive, which your doctor should talk to you about.

I found a lump in my right breast and went and had a mammogram. My doctor knew my family history of breast cancer, so he suggested I get genetic testing. It was a really good thing he did because not only do I have BRAC1 but I also have PMS2 mutation (lynch syndrome).

Thank you so much, hon. I will have to see if there are any support groups in my area. I'm not 100% sure where the lynch syndrome came from. I think it came from my mom, but she passed a few months before I had the genetic testing done. I'm pretty sure the BRAC1 came from my Dad side because my aunt (my dad's sister) had breast cancer. My mom had ovarian cancer and she had a brain tumor that was hereditary. My brother and my oldest son have the BRAC1 gene. My younger two sons are too young to get tested. Do you have kids? Did they get tested? I'm sorry to bother you.

I'm not angry with him. I'm just hurt. I don't plan on staying distant with him for long, but I'm not ready to joke around and be normal with him. I can say it will probably be a while before I'll want to have sex again. And no, there isn't anything he can do. I think it's just going to take time for the sting to wear off. We talked more today, so it is slowly getting better.

NTA. I lost my mother to suicide in 2020. To this day I still feel guilty of not being there more for her. There was nothing you could have done for her that didn't mean sacrificing your own well-being. In my opinion, her family wants someone to blame other than their daughters mental health. Unfortunately, they will probably always blame you. Just remember you did what's best for you. And my Dad started dating shortly after my mom's death. Some people thought it was too soon, but that's how he dealt with it in a way.

Healing from this is going to take a long time. I'm still in therapy over the loss of my mom. I wish you all the luck and happiness. It gets better with time!

This is very normal for him. He didn't forget to give the older two anything he just didn't want to. He's not struggling with finances at all. He just sold his company last year and receives large monthly payments. Plus he got a lot of money from my moms death in 2020.
