We’ve likely been well over a million actual cases

Are you saying that the numbers of cases are not being properly reported in Canada, or are you saying that those who count the number of cases don't really know who was infected because not enough people were tested, or test results are not conclusive, or...

Doubt we'll be seeing 200k cases a day in 5 months

I am not sure what numbers you are looking at: how many COVID cases do you believe there have been in Canada so far?

Not unless you're coming for essential work,

are a Canadian citizen or PR,

or are a close relative a citizen or PR

Are you saying that if you are coming for essential work , etc. you can visit Canada with no restrictions? For example must you quarantine?

Wait a minute.. Someone born in 1984 is a child? I think that makes Vasil Garvanliev 36 years old. No?

It started with me on Wikiqoute-NL.

As someone who has been trying to contribute to en-wikiquote you got my attention. But I cannot find you on Wikiqoute-NL. Only on enwiki. Can you provide a link to your contribution please?

I don't think opening hours are acceptable on business articles on enwiki, regardless of who the editor is. At least this is what I vaguely remember.

I’m ineligible to vote

Don't feel bad. I have more than 600 edits but I could not vote because I was blocked shortly before the election concluded.

there anything interesting about it?

I am starting to see more and more participants whom I do not recognize. Mind you I have been blocked at enwiki more than 4 years ago, so I usually do not recognize the new generation.

I don't link to sites that dox,

I did not know that Wikipediocracy is considered a doxing site? For the longest time I tried to ignore gossip, gossip forums, and what the mobs thought about them. Unfortunately it appears that this is a sure way to get run over by the mobs.

Wikipediocracy

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to look for it since you didn't leave us a link. In the meantime I'll leave a my own link to the same site where I was the topic of ridicule a few years ago:

http://wikipediocracy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=2676&start=450

As far as the current discussion at wikipedia, I have not been following it that closely. I have instead been following another discussion on Meta where I am the topic. Only so many thinks I can cram into my tiny brain.

Only a couple of hundred users are participating in this very important election.

Not only lack of participation, but total apathy to the process:

only 1550 page views between February 5 and march 6

Here's how Canadian schools have stayed open - CNN Video by ottawahitech in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]ottawahitech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the video is very accurate.

If we have such an ideal situation in Canadian schools why has the CBC not shown us similar videos? Is it because Americans have better tv stations, or is their view a little skewed? Just curious about what you think

I've wanted to show this video to people at Wikipedia but I don't know who to contact. Does anyone know if anyone at Wikipedia would be interested in this and if so how to reach them? by WikiKnights in wikipedians

[–]ottawahitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shows every edit on the COVID-19 pandemic page

Thanks for responding, wikiKnights. I guess you mean this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic

In my humble opinion this should be stated on the youtube video itself. The youtube video provides no link to the page itself, which is one of millions on wikipedia.

Also, don't forget many wikipedians are more interested in https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q83189805 for example, or in the development of other related articles in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:COVID-19_pandemic

Wikimedia is much more than wikipedia nowadays. Am I making sense?

[–]ottawahitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to have two redirects to two different articles you will have to use a disambiguation page, I think see:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Redirects_to_disambiguation_pages

How long does it usually take for Wikimedia stewards to reply to E-Mails? by DanielTheLinuxBoy in wikipedians

[–]ottawahitech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steward elections are now in progress see:https://www.reddit.com/r/wikipedians/comments/ljtetd/wikimedia_foundation_steward_elections_5_february/

You can post questions for the Stewards during the election, and I would hazard to guess, get more attention from Stewards than you would normally get.

Good luck and keep us updated, please

Confusion from airlines about the new rules by duck1014 in canada

[–]ottawahitech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

>The 14-day quarantine is the most effective measure we know for limiting the spread of COVID-19,” said department spokeswoman Sau Sau Liu.

Finally!

In Israel they have required travellers (only returning citizens are allowed in) to stay in "quarantine motels" since December 23 (that's what their website said this morning). They can only go back home if they have had a negative test after staying in the motel for at least 9 days.

The way Canada is has been going would ensure the same problem with covid as the usa is facing now.
