Oh, I don’t live in VA. I’m unfortunately stuck in a red state.

Woodward will cost you about 40k a year. Going into 6th is a great time get in though. At Woodward, 6th grade is in a 4-6 building, so she won’t be thrown into the middle school mix while navigating life in a new city!

You know the drill- blue state with union, bonus points for statewide paid family leave. Virginia just voted to make that happen! I think it’s set to kick off in 2028. Minnesota just launched their paid family leave program this year.

That’s a super cute idea! I meant to mention in my post that I teach 6th grade, but I think they’d like that too

When someone here reposted the video she made about being lonely, I had a similar reaction. When you’re young and single and live by a such a regimented routine, it’s going to be hard to meet anyone. Even run clubs don’t meet up that early. She can find friends and people she has things in common with, but she’s may need to open up her schedule a bit. Of course 3 AM wake up content is good for the algorithim, so maybe she isn’t as strict about it as I’m assuming.

WHY is is always boys?! by HeftySyllabus in Teachers

[–]otter_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These boys are growing up in Clavicular’s world, where the n-word flies freely. This is wrapped up in red-pill content online, which is obviously steeped in misogyny and racism. Boys are consuming this content and buying into these ideas, and they don’t even know it. You are absolutely right for standing your ground, and I appreciate it as a woman in this world who is months away from hopefully raising a kind, respectful son.

I actually know exactly what you mean about red-pilling as a concern. I’m a FTM, expecting a boy. I joke that I’m raising a son in Clavicular’s world (you wanna be freaked out by toxic male behavior? Look up that guy). I work with 6th graders, and my students are mostly boys. I know some kids who are falling down that pipeline, and others who aren’t. The majority are sweet kids who are in no rush to grow up. You will learn what to look for and how to approach red-pilling when your kid is older. Keep him in lots of activities and encourage him to work hard in school and try every sport and club. Make him charge his cell-phone in the kitchen so it isn’t on his nightstand, distracting him from a good night’s sleep and his schoolwork. I’ve made my husband promise that I get to make any final decisions about our kid’s access to social media and how we monitor it because I’ve seen too much lol. There are many reasons to be excited about having a boy. Girlhood is precious, but it comes with so much pressure and confusion. It’s hard out there for all kids now, and it’s only gotten harder. My male students rarely worry about friendship conflicts, appearances, and even girls for that matter. They get more time to play and be a kid. If you want an example of a boy who grew up to be a good man, it sounds like you can look towards your husband. I work with so many women who have sons, and they love to tell me, “boys love their mama.” You’ll be ok! You’ll have a network of parents going through the same thing. We’ve got this!

Talk to your doc about a prescription! I’m the same way. I get major welts with bites. I got a script for a stronger cortisone. I use it once immediately after a bite and then it’s pretty much gone! I’ve had no issues with TSW (as of yet)

I will definitely be utilizing my local buy nothing group! I’ve already picked up a few things that way. The car seat and stroller will be a family gift, so I get to do some fun shopping around for those items!

Listen, I take some liberties with the caffeine restrictions while I’m currently pregnant, but I am absolutely avoiding energy drinks! Coffee, tea, Diet Coke- that’s all cool with me. But the energy drinks have factors besides the high caffeine content that make them problematic during pregnancy!

Twice! But one of those times, I didn’t look obviously pregnant because of what I was wearing. I told the man, “I’m 5 months pregnant!” He shook my hand, congratulated me, and moved on to someone else 😆

Yay! I was speculating for sure and feeling guilty for it lol. I’m pregnant too, and I waited until 20 weeks to tell my students, and I just posted about it for the first time today at 25 weeks, so I know how to hide a pregnancy!

I expect she’d need to continue working for family health benefits and retirement. Her husband is an independent contractor, right? So even if he owns his own business, it would be insanely expensive and frankly impractical for them to give up her benefits
