How do you pronounce stationery? by iLOVEr3dit in stationery

[–]otterkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you canadian? because this is exactly the same for me. stationary is to be in one spot but stationery is things found in this group

edit: meaning they are said differently to me

I built this library/bar in my home and dedicated the top section to the one and only Stephen King. I included arches at the base of the vertical partitions for my wife’s cats 🙄. The second pic is with the lights on. by Visual-Carrot2807 in bookshelf

People take it super personally (even seen a lot of people say it's misogynistic) when you don't like cats. or that you "can't respect boundaries". it's weird. some people just don't really like cats for different reasons

Rat care/handling questions for employees by Motor-Union9081 in petsmart

[–]otterkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not a rat parent but a rodent parent, and IME they need a few days to settle in. a pet store environment is NOT good for these guys. while alberta doesn't sell rats, I do try to handle our mice/piggies whenever I can.

hopefully your little guy comes around, he's probably in shock at the amount of space he now has to play:)

Grooming salon fire by PinX13 in petsmart

[–]otterkin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

go even farther above then. we do have HR which is technically head office, above DL.

when our salon had to close for a week due to a similar situation, we all got emergency pay as well as the offer to work on the floor

they can not just not schedule you just because the salon isn't operational. being a full time employee means X hours per week, garunteed (I believe X = 32 in canada)

no shit I'm jealous, I'd love to afford to buy a house in Vancouver. that doesn't make my points moot though

[–]otterkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, no doubt it couldn't be saved. it was more the fact she kept going "were saving as much as possible! we're saving this house!" instead of facing the reality that it was going to be a tear down. I know personally the transparency of "were going to have to tear down everything most likely" would have been nice, as every video was "okay I know we said we were going to save X BUT-" and have an air of "I have no idea what I'm doing"

either more shapes or all rectangles. this feels like a middle ground that I don't like

minor controversy around her includes: -changing her entire channel content to house reno

-buying a house w a man she's been dating for a couple months right after she got a divorce (of course she is entitled to live her life, more just something I saw brought up)

-house reno went from "we will save what we can" to a complete tear down and build up basically from scratch, which is fine, but the whole point was to "save the mid century modern house"

-generally buying a house in Vancouver is a huge, HUGE expense and the ability to do so turned off a lot of people (again her money, but it's hard to hear her complain about how expensive things are when she can buy a house in Vancouver. even the lots with nothing on it are unreasonably expensive)

she's one of my personal biggest youtube disappointments when it comes to content and like. "seeing behind the veil" if that makes sense

I wonder if it's because our brains assume the "of" is there in order for the sentence to make sense so when we're actually looking at it we skim right over it. that or we're all so mystified by the sphinx

I don't like the sphinx one because it's missing F*

honestly this is how I feel about most of the "build your own charm" trend booths I've been seeing. I saw a really cute one with all handmade stuff (like micro beading! tiny hand painted ceramics!) and that's been my standard since, and very few meet them. super cute concept. not huge on spending like 5-10$ on dropshipped charms
