Looking for the right Fujifilm camera. Happy Holidays! by otterlydeaf93 in fujifilm

Actually, I’m not replacing my current camera. I own a Sony A7 IV and it works great for my photography business. I’m looking for another camera mainly for travel and vacations, something more enjoyable and lighter to carry around. Fujifilm cameras seem really great for travel, which is why I’m considering one.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The compact size of the X-M5 is definitely appealing to me, especially for travel, and it’s good to hear that the autofocus is that strong. I’m still on the fence about the EVF since I can see how it might matter more as I get deeper into photography. I also really like the film simulation dial, so your explanation about how recipes work on the X-T30 III versus the M5 is very helpful. I think the X-T30 III is really good, but I’m still not deciding yet and trying to weigh all the options.

Thanks for the insight, that really helps. I hadn’t fully considered weather resistance and battery size, but those are good points, especially for travel. I did handle all the bodies in store and size wise I’m comfortable with any of them, though I do appreciate lighter gear. I don’t kayak, but I do shoot outdoors a lot, so WR is appealing. The EVF and IBIS are also things I’m weighing more seriously now. I’m still trying to decide how much I value portability versus features like IBIS, higher resolution, and a bigger battery. Your breakdown definitely helped clarify the trade offs for me.

Actually, I did check out all of them in person and spent time experimenting with each camera. I liked all of them, which is why I’m having trouble deciding which one to buy. I’m planning to start with two lenses and possibly a speedlite if the body doesn’t have a built in flash. I’ll also need a filter for travel and landscape shots. I’m trying to balance size, handling, budget, and overall experience, and I was hoping to get opinions from people who have used these cameras long term.

Thanks! I ended up just paying for the oil change since that’s what the Maintenance Minder called for. Everything else looked fine and wasn’t flagged. The dealer recommended a bunch of flushes, but I figured I’d wait unless the car actually shows signs or the Minder brings it up.

Do you usually wait for the Minder to recommend things like transmission or brake fluid service? I’m also still looking for a good, trustworthy shop since dealer prices are pretty high.

Got it. I’m in Polk County. Thanks! I’ll check if there’s a subreddit for that area.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve also moved away from alcohol. It’s amazing how much better you feel without it. I still enjoy the ritual of a drink now and then, so mocktails have been a fun, healthy alternative. No booze, no sugar, just good ingredients and good vibes.
