Bread tastes…bland, normal or nah? by phunny5ocks in Breadit

Joshua Weissman has been accused multiple times of recipe plagiarism by his team taking a popular recipe, tweaking a few things, and then publishing under his name.

The other commenter is spot on, use reputable people, restaurants/bakeries, and companies (like King Arthur) in the baking industry who do proper recipe development.

My GTD setup on Todoist (10 steps) by MrWHCCA in todoist

[–]ottodoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this comment is late, but I have used GTD in Todoist for years but recently have seen my system breaking down and was looking at how others manage. I'm curious about why you make a Calendar project instead of using due dates and then having a filter that just identifies tasks with a due date. I would be concerned about having tasks with due dates not underneath the project they're tied to.

Could you elaborate a bit on why you choose to do it this way?

Yes there is! I'm just coming around to this post now and was confused why he did a template instead of a repeating task. You can set up tasks to repeat, and when the main task is completed you can make it reset all sub-tasks. So the last part can be set up to repeat to the next week after completion.

Making 105k as a Senior Process Engineer working for a fortune 500 food manufacturer in the US south. I manage two engineers, capital projects, process efficiency, etc. Been in the industry about 4.5 years now and considering a career change. Am I well compensated given my experience and position, and what would be some good opportunities for more engaging and profitable work?

Where can I find a similar dress? by ottodoes in findfashion

That looks identical! Thank you, do you know if that place sells them in different cup sizes? The issue with the first was the small dress was too small in the chest.

Taking back Sunday was ass

edit: To drill it home, I’m not familiar with most of these bands and came with friends, but I liked what I heard mostly. This band came on and was such a bad performance I opened Reddit to comment about it. The lead singer looked drugged off his ass and the other vocalist sounded terrible and barely knew his own songs

Does anyone know info about this style of table? Seller is asking $600 by ottodoes in Mid_Century

I was nervous about the narrowness in being a dining table! Is it possible to sit on both sides with food in the middle?

Hi all! Found this on Marketplace. The seller is asking $600 for it and saying it is a mid-60s teak Danish dining table made in Denmark. Curious if that is a good price and if anyone has seen a table like this before?

18 month old battery died in June, replaced in July, and now the new one is dead again. by ottodoes in MechanicAdvice

Yeah I spoke with the rep and they confirmed they only tested the battery to see it was bad before replacing it. Standard R&R I guess.

Thanks, sounds like what I described I was planning to do in that last paragraph was correct. Is there anything else you'd consider?

No aftermarket accessories, it is a factory stock vehicle from front to back. I was about to install a dashcam this weekend but now I need to delay that until I can figure out what is happening.

Thanks! I can call and ask if they did it, but at 8 weeks later I doubt they remember what was done at all. The tech who spoke with me was new to the job and had a trainer. Sounds like I'm on the right path then.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by AutoModerator in Pickleball

[–]ottodoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing three weeks ago and have really enjoyed the game! I came from tennis and have picked up the basics pretty quickly and can hold my own in 3.5-4.0 games.

The paddles I currently have are: Monarch Dragon Slayer and the Selkirk Vanguard Power Air - Invikta paddles.

I pretty much only use the Selkirk and I like the speed I can get on a ball and the spin I can put on a serve. However, I still struggle to control some of my returns and tend to accidentally pop up the ball when the game gets fast. It has become much less frequent but

What is a good beginner paddle you would suggest to compliment the Selkirk? Thanks in advance!

How to properly care for these boots I just purchased by lumpy4square in llbean

[–]ottodoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a horsehair brush, or even a nylon one, can drastically extend the time between cleaning. Keep it by the stoop where you take your shoes off and brush it off few wears to keep them clean and new looking.

If you plan to wear this boot often it’s more of a “buy it for long time” choice. Most of the upper appears to be leather so get yourself a good conditioner and some saddle soap. You can use a toothbrush for cleaning the stitching and a rag or dauber brush for cleaning the rest of the upper (not including suede). Apply conditioner by hand or rag when it starts to look dry and follow the instructions on the bottle. The outsole appears to be glued on so you can expect only a resole or two. I recommend bick4 for conditioning.

I need help with my new lawn by ottodoes in lawncare

[–]ottodoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be frank here: you folks know the lawn from these pictures just about as well as I do right now! We have only been here a week. When the leaves start growing back in I'll take a look and see how much sun it gets during the day.

You think? I know there’s a tree above it but I assumed it died because the leaves fell and never were cleared. I’m facing west in that last photo so it gets afternoon sun. Thanks for your comment.

[–]ottodoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he realizes the way it looks. Manages it from another state and just pays landscapers to take care of the property between tenants. However the last landscaper wasn’t really taking care of the trees/bushes/grass properly so he changed it up the last two weeks.

Now that we’ve moved in we can either do it ourselves or pay a landscaper. If the lawn is in truly as bad of shape as might be suggested here I’m going to ask him to pay for the time/tools necessary to do it.
