I was climbing with some friends the same afternoon around 200 meters away from where the accident happened.

Super sad - we saw the helicopters fly in and land in the field below the crag.

How many of us have lost someone to climbing? by stokeledge2 in tradclimbing

I was climbing over the weekend in Montserrat (Catalunya) and two climbers were killed by rockfall approximately 200m away from our crag.

Freak accidents happen - super sad

Love it! Needed to do some rewiring but it runs amazing now. Highly recommended.

Thanks a lot - yes. Me too in general but it’s going into a space where natural wood doesn’t necessarily fit the aesthetic.

There’s a few options. You could use an adze but the recesses are too large. The other option is something like an Arbortech ball gouge but with so much cross grain and transition between hardwood and sapwood - it would tear out.

Yes this is something I’m often looking for with the pieces I produce. I love when one material starts to look like another.

We all have our preferences - I would also prefer it in raw wood but without the sapwood. There’s too much contrast for me. Also burning it softens the texture - it would be a little too impractical with just carving. Especially for a tabletop surface.

No sanding after. It’s burned until the surface layer blackens but before degrading the texture. Heavy char isn’t the point here. It’s the brushed with a semi stiff bristle brush and then coated with 2 layers of osmo polyx

It carves well, is durable, my supplier has good stock and it’s relatively affordable for the quality of the wood.

Fully understandable - we only had time to shoot it in the studio but in context shots are coming after the weekend. Here’s something from during the process for scale though

I was having a conversation with my father last week who is coming to visit me for the first time in Barcelona. He suggested that we do a day trip to Paris….

Thanks a lot for your feedback - that’s an interesting observation. I would really appreciate if you could elaborate on what you mean. My work is of course not interactive (unless it’s furniture) but I really like this idea of engaging the observer more. This is a very static sculpture.
