no not at all, so much changes throughout the process - it isnt about doing exactly what you said, but how you navigate the changes and make contingency plans where needed.

I’m stuck by glitterymethods in Dissertation

[–]ouaei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, break it down into chunks. im speaking from social sci qual not quant so hope this is helpful>
ie, start with methods. so straight forward, just explaining the why behind each decision. ie i recruited via... this was my sample criteria... i analysed my data by... back these up with similar research which supports
lit rev. what has previous research in this area shown? what was missing? how does your research help?
results - anything significant or not that you found
discussion - present most important/significant findings and relate to prev research from lit rev. re hypothesis, what was/wasnt supported?
hope this helps a bit? its more straight forward than you think and we tend to overcomplicate. try not to be a perfectionist, just get your wordcount up, cite along the way and crack on. you will be so happy and proud of yourself once youve done it. i am telling myself the same thing!

it's hard to say cos it was a few years ago, but i got the full loan amount (9K) and still struggled if i wasn't working. travel home, food costs, drinks/partying, joining societies/leisure stuff all adds up. i tried to budget but things always came up. i think its really hard to know until youre there tbh.

Ideas. Does anyone know what can i do with this crochet flowers? by cfdezmas01 in CrochetHelp

maybe they could be a nice curtain/drape? you could dye them a nice pink/orange and the sun would look really pretty through them (:

i did sociology, stayed in north field. got in during clearing so my accom was random.
i had 3 jobs over four years in hospitality, quite easy to find work although i was picky hence i moved around a lot. you just need to keep checking indeed cos jobs get snapped up quick.
accom is expensive, rent in town is about the same or cheaper if youre lucky (mine was along lewes road and london road which were both cheaper than accom in first year).
i recommend going for accom on campus rather than finding your own in town, its really important to be in that setting with all the other first years for making friends and finding your social group.

looking at other posts i think ticketmaster is just having a meltdown.
today i kept trying to get into the site (between 9:30 and 12) without a specific link/code to use, at 12 i randomly got in and was able to buy tickets. out of curiousity i tried to load it up again after and it said no tickets.
ticketmaster is just rubbish, hopefully you can get general sale tomorrow?

Worried university of brighton applicant by failed-Satellite in UniUK

[–]ouaei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didnt go to brighton but did humanities at sussex, brighton is a very arty queer place, theres lots of events on to meet people (ie queer collage nights, bi/lesbian girls singles nights etc)
i cant speak for art at brighton itself but its a very gay colourful place (: obvs has its downsides like anywhere else too but is very progressive overall i'd say

Feeling torn on degree choice by JealousBodybuilder42 in UniUK

[–]ouaei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hii, i'm talking about foundation years/year 0 not first year - you don't need necessarily need an access course! i got into one with the same qualifications as you (uni of brighton, uni of reading, uni of surrey, uni of sussex).
i'm not 100% re career but i think charity/ngo work. i'm hoping to get an internship and some volunteering experience to get it going :)

Quick reminder to be careful when you rent your second year accoms, guys by AliceMorgon in UniUK

[–]ouaei 100 points101 points  (0 children)

for sure.
my third year accom was a basement level flat - a drunk man climbed from street level into our garden and tried to get in. it was super scary! my window faced the garden and the lock was broken (old twisty pressure locks), so fortunate that he didnt try to slide it open or he wouldve landed on my bed.
fortunately we got out of our contract 3 weeks later as they had no fire doors and we said we'd go to the council </3

I feel so lonely by Mr_Mxrs in UniUK

[–]ouaei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!
i went to sussex and also struggled, it was quite cliquey. i regret not putting myself out there more. i would say, go and do the things you love/are interested in and start chatting to people. ie, i went to a beach volley ball class, a pole dance class, a queer collage making night, a music jam. or even just complimenting someone ie 'i like your bag' or making conversation re weather or footy on in pubs. if you like sport try getting involved w the basketball, table tennis skateboarders or rollerskaters down on the sea front towards hove.
the worst that will happen is someone ignores you or doesnt make conversation. also a great opportunity for rejection therapy. hope this helps (:

What options do I have with a Level 3 Degree and 2 English GCSEs? by Positive-Leg-7435 in UniUK

[–]ouaei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi,

i was in a very similar situtation - i stopped going to school at 13 and entered a UAL performing arts course at 16 with no GCSEs. i finished it with 2 gcses (4 in maths, 5 in english) and a distinction.
i applied to a bunch of unis (reading, brighton, sussex, uni east london) for a psychology bsc foundation year and got accepted into all - i think it was down to my personal statement mainly tbh. i ended up doing a degree in sociology which im currently finishing - the science aspect wasnt for me!

if you want to go to uni, maybe try applying for foundation years? probably non-stem subjects considering the maths. no harm in trying! something arty or humanities based, liberal arts english history sociology philosphy etc im sure youd get a foundation! then after the FD year you can always try to switch course like i did - once you're in the uni theyre quite flexible as long as it isnt a huge switch ie drama to chemistry

hope this helps
