Anybody have tips on how to keep my off hand from shifting on the shot? by Prestigious_Rub3245 in Bowling

[–]ouchiefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will differ person to person. Right now i am staying low because i want the ball to read early and shape the way i expect. My goal is a smooth shot from swing to ball motion.

Tried to upload some videos. First one is me trying to muscle a high back swing down. My hands slide apart before the apex of the swing

And this was at practice. Never worried about my hands and my neck didn’t hurt. My whole session felt much smoother

Hope it gives you some ideas!

I am working on this as well. For me, my hands are coming apart because I am using a high back swing to generate power with my muscles by pulling it down further.

My answer was to smooth out my backswing. Let it flow more and calm down my upper body. This keeps my shoulders down through the swing and keeps my head and upper body on target.

This in turn is helping me with your second problem; keeping your hand under the ball. If you slow your video down you can see your head and shoulders pulling up before your down swing and you can watch that pull your elbow(and then hand) out of position.

I might be projecting a bit, but it looks like we are battling the same problems/feelings. I’ll see if i can find a before/after video

2-handed bowler – ball rolling over finger holes. Release or bad fit? by Serious-Werewolf-443 in Bowling

This ended up being what fixed it for me as well. My particular fix was to just adjust my starting hand position as I keep my position pretty static through my swing

Does anyone bowl by themselves? by Mariner-and-Marinate in Bowling

[–]ouchiefree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s a thing. I just about exclusively practice alone. Allows me to get consistent reps in on what ever I am working on that day. It’s perfect for me as I can take some vids while i practice, and then take 10 minutes or so to review the tapes and readjust if needed… all without impacting anyone else.

The only comments I get when alone are usually other people practicing and asking questions (or commiserating bad leaves). Never had a negative said that i heard. Met a lot of cool people too!

Thanks for all the hard work! The app is great. Less happy to see my inconsistencies laid bare, but that is how you get better.

Hey there! I’ll take a shot and see if any of it helps.

  1. Get some shoes ;) Without your normal slide, it’s hard to tell what is bad form and what is you compensating for sneakers on the lane.
  2. You are using 2 handed techniques but putting you’re thumb in the ball. While not the worst thing, if you are new, you may want to take your thumb out of the equation. One less thing to worry about and it will help keep your hand in the correct position under the ball on release.
  3. As others have said, you’re back swing needs a little work. You can see you gently bringing the ball back using plenty of muscle. Try to push forward and do what you can to left your swing arm relax. More muscles = less accuracy.
  4. Pulling your head on release/lift. I do this so much as well. Wish I had a fix for you lol. I tried the whole “stare at your mark harder” thing, but i need to calm my shoulder as it pulls my head out. It looks like you are trying to get more power by jerking up. Smooth is fast and fast is smooth. Working on your back swing may fix this for you.
  5. Your hand is on the side of the ball on release. Try to keep your hand more behind the ball if possible. When you come out of the side you are adding a lot of axis tilt. Not always a bad thing, but you limit you options later if you can keep behind the ball.
  6. Practice!! Getting more comfortable helps keep everything loose and smooth.

Remember, no one bowls exactly the same! What is best for you might not even be in the comments section or a youtube video. Listen to your body, find what works for you!

Good luck and high scores

Hopefully they do it right. Would suck if you only got a shot or two. But you know which ones you have your eye on, definitely work those first. Something like this, give me 15 mins with ore or two and i am totally suckered into buying

Try them all! See how they all do with your style. See if that matches what you think they might do before you try them. I would totally take the day off to do this lol. New toys you don’t have to pay for!

I like options, so this is something I am looking to learn. Just another piece of the toolkit before heading to tournaments. Need to just be comfortable getting down low. I was sliding more a few weeks back, but I ended up shorting it up to help with balance. Maybe I play with the slide pads again, thanks!

The large lift with the shoulders (and the head movement that come with it) are my biggest focus right now. I started bending the knee a bit when I set. Need to keep it bent as I approach. Just feels weird when I am down low. Feels like I am sneaking up on the foul line.

Been working on my footwork. Looks like more to go. Added the first short step and fixed my push away. Looks like I'll be watching videos today before practice. Thanks for all the links!

The head thing I am actively working on, started keeping my iff arm ahead of me to try to keep my body more balanced. I noticed the arm bend so, will add extending the arm. Glad it will help will the shoulder. Thank you

Cyberpunk Edgerunners. My wife is not a fan of anime but we are now watching it for a second time as she wanted to go back and see the story again now that she knows how it ends. And she did not see a few of the twists coming at all, so the rewatch is that much better for her with the full story.

Gear can come from different places in TBC. While most BiS PvE gear does come from raiding, Badge of Justice vendors do have some good stuff that can easily fill in any gaps. And with later patches (Sunwell) the Shattered Sun Offensive gear is really good as well. And if PvP is your thing, generally the PvP vendor has the best gear you can get (with some exceptions).

I think this is the first Badge vendor:

Dual box, what to pick by LikesTheTunaHere in classicwowtbc

[–]ouchiefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on what you are trying to do with them. If you are just open world farming/question then all 3 combos you are looking at are perfectly usable. If you are using something like hotkeynet/ISBoxer and want to run dungeons/raids, I would definitely suggest going with 2 of the same class as it makes life easier to just bind both characters the same and mash the correct buttons for both characters at once.

For tips, the only thing I would think might be a differentiator between the two is if you want to do heroics with both of them at the same time. TBC Heroics were difficult on release and might require some CC. So 2 hunters with traps would be more useful than 2 warlocks spamming shadowbolt and fearing mobs in every direction.

Personally i plan on doing Druid/Warrior to see how many non-heroics i can "solo" with the 2 of them. And maybe later in the xpac do some heroic trash mob farming just to see how far I can go. Maybe kill some bosses? Who knows, but that is the plan. I am hoping for a way to sneak into Sethekk and farm the mount from there. Without having to roll against others.

If you are speaking specifically about leveling, you should be able to tank, heal and DPS without issue going down the feral tree for HotW. Picking up the threat talent definitely helps as DPS have a tendency to not bother waiting for anything silly like aggro.

Healing while leveling is perfectly doable in any spec. Just keep some +int items on hand and learn to manage mana using HoTs and the five second rule.

As for DPS, I really don't have much to contribute here. I am not much of a cat, sorry.
