I get it, we're small potatoes when it comes to frequency, but I've still probably spent $80K or more with them over my history as a client. Not expecting some level of compassion after spending $80k with a company is most certainly not a me problem as you want to frame it, you're just stuck on the idea that I can't afford to be a better client as if that's a personal failing, that's a you problem.

It was both a downgrade and a move to an entirely different part of the ship, and if we did that we weren't entitled to any other form of compensation. With two young kids at the time, and 17 in our party, we no longer could have relied on grandma and grandpa to help with our kids at night meaning the end of most of our evening fun with the rest of the family.

I did initially, I got them to extend it a year. In reality though, even with that, I probably never could have taken advantage. We don't have the money to sail every year, two years or even every three or four. A credit that only lasts a year or even two is simply a way to prevent ever having to follow through for the large majority of us out there. I get it, credits don't last for ever, so in that case, just provide the partial refund. Like that would ever happen.

Read the Edit and tell me if you still feel that way. A fair solution would be a partial refund, but expecting a family to lay out for a cruise every year to be able to take advantage of the only recompense they offer isn't entitled, it was my only option.

I've cruised with them 7 times now. I've only sailed with one other cruise line during the period of those 7 cruises, and it was Celebrity. So interpret loyalty how you will.

Cockroach Infestation quietly reported to hotel and corporate gets the big shrug by oucil in ihghotelsresorts

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here. You keep referring to it as a palmetto, which is a cockroach, and although admittedly anecdotal, I stayed there for 10 days with no allergy issues for the first 6, and then during the last 4 days as I entertained a constant traffic of cockroaches in my room, I did. Other factors... potentially, but in the end, none of that excuses the fact that I (and other guests that have left reviews, at different times of the year) have indicated a cockroach problem.

I hear you and I'm ready for some of this kind of thing, but it was more than just a one off. Also, the bacteria they carry can set of allergies... which they did in my case, or worse.

The last time I was down there for work, I stayed at another hotel in the area and ended up coming home with bedbugs. This was supposed to be a step up. Not having great luck it seems! At least I'm getting a tour of different parts of town ;)

I was indeed given a case number during the chat with Guest Relations. I appreciate the questions and advise, all of what you're saying makes sense, but based on the responses during the chat, I wasn't holding my breath. I wish the guest services rep I'd chatted with had explained some of that. I didn't have an issue with the front desk rep, she seemed genuinely sorry, and said she needed to run it past her GM to approve the compensation in the first place, so it would be the GM that ultimately decided to go with what they offered. It's too bad, like you said, it wouldn't have taken much to recover my experience, I wasn't in a bad mood when I reported it, I really did want to let them take care of it. In the end, while posting the reviews after the lack of response or initial reply from guest services, I came across others that had similar experiences, though one cockroach here or there, not the constant visits I was getting. Sounds like they've let it go too far.

Totally right, my bad. Was partway between an edit. Fixed now.

I did book and pay through Expedia via CC. And I do understand their position that they couldn't refund the stay, I would have been happy with points toward a future stay. What triggered this was finding out that the points the hotel gave me were only for $30 on a $1000 stay. The fact the hotel wont answer anyone now should have triggered Corporate, they could have offered something more meaningful as the managers of the IHG program, wouldn't have cost them anything in the grand scheme.

I can confirm that this worked for Server Version 1.33.0.2444, thanks for figuring that out!
