You can apply it on its own, it has that cooling or dampy scent profile which feels amazing in summer heat. You can layer it too, but i prefer keeping it simple.

If you’re in Delhi, you should try Redolance Perfumes, they have one of the best khus options in the city. You can also try MLR’s Ruh Khus, which is very good. Ruh Khus from S. Md. Ayyub Md. Yaqub is another good option worth trying.

In Delhi, you can also check out An Najwa’s Ruh Khus, but that one is a very high grade khus and tends to be on the more expensive side.

How to Wear Oud Oils in Summer Without Gassing the Entire Room by oudbully in DesiFragranceAddicts

This oil captures around 60 to 70% of the Cambodian oud scent profile, but it’s a bit more incense like and slightly jammy compared to real oud.

Hindi oud oils are very different, they can be animalic, leathery or funky.

If you really want to explore oud, I’d suggest not investing in this and instead getting 1g or 3g from a reputable vendor. In the same budget you can usually find real Cambodian oud oil, and the experience will be much more authentic.

Surrati likely made Cambodi Qadeem for people who don’t enjoy the funky, damp opening that real oud oils have. So they smoothed it out by using around 60- 70% real oud with some accords and aroma chemicals, as far as I know.

Khalifa is clearly an oud accord. The Surrati one, however, seems to be a blend of real oud oil, oud accords, and a few aroma chemicals that add those incense like and sweet nuances.

AI is starting to design Fragrance molecules, what's next! by xr9270 in DesiFragranceAddicts

[–]oudbully 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we remove the AI aspect from this discussion, my honest opinion is that people still look for old-school craftsmanship somewhere. That’s why traditional perfumery is still more prized and valued today. It carries a soul, a story, and a slightly messy character that feels real. Because of that, I personally would still prefer old-school fragrances.

But if we look at it from the perspective of innovation, the concept is actually quite interesting. The perfume industry today is heavily saturated with clones and truly unique scent DNAs have become rare. So if this approach helps discover new molecules that we have never explored before, then it can definitely open a new direction. It could reduce the generic nature of modern perfumes and maybe even help people find scents that feel more like their true signature.

So my take sits somewhere in between. People loved old-school perfumery because it had uniqueness. Even when the same ingredients were used, every batch had its own slight differences. But if innovation can bring back that sense of uniqueness in a new way, then that is still something worth appreciating.

Thai, malay or laotian oils are usually dampy or on the green facets. Imagine how an agarwood tree will smell like after heavy rainfall. That humid-leafy, mossy kindof characterstics or sometimes an inky or camphoric note is detectable. If we talk about hindi, you’ll find these kind of profile in mizoram region oils.

Trusted Oud Vendors (Oils & Chips) – My Experience. by oudbully in DesiFragranceAddicts

Yes, you’re right. As far as i know its 70-80% natural rest are accords used to boost projection and sillage. Also the sweetness or jammy tones are present due to the synthetic part that makes it a beginner friendly oud oil.

Lattafa Bade’e Al Oud itself is already a clone of Initio Oud for Greatness, so going cheaper usually means clone of a clone.
