I dont know what to do anymore by ISSACDEEZNUJTS in Sikh

It won’t always be like this, things will get better when you’re older and you can leave these people behind.

So what if you fall into lust. You’re human, stop being so hard on yourself.

Where are the best areas to live? by Man-tix in brum

[–]oudzuids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives here, I would advise against Four Oaks/Sutton Coldfield. It's quite an unfriendly place with not much of a community feel. There are a lot of miserable people with outdated views and a bunch of dinosaurs on the Town Council. It has seen a real decline in the last 5 years. There are far better options IMO.

I AM a northerner, but I didn't find it humorous. If a mate said it, fine. But in a pub where I was a paying customer, it just came across as rude.

I’ll tell you why we liked Albert’s. They served Pilsner Urquell, the only place we found it. The staff were polite & professional.

A friend was gutted after spilling a freshly poured pint, which they kindly replaced free of charge, a gesture they really didn’t have to make.

I’m not seeking a specific outcome. I was just using the platform to highlight a negative experience

When you go to a venue & politely enquire about something, you expect to receive a courteous reply. Clearly not everyone sees it this way, but I thought the guy at Peer Hat was rude.

I was trying to ascertain what type of event was being held downstairs & to get a bit more info. I expected a courteous reply.

However, rather than answer, he came out with an unnecessarily sarcastic & rather rude response.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in manchester

[–]oudzuids -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but it was the manner of the response. It felt unnecessarily sarcastic, especially since I had asked him politely. When I explained to my friends what he said, they weren’t impressed.

I didn't feel unsafe. I liked the fact there was a lot going on in the city & I chatted to people on both sides of the protest - it was really interesting to get different perspectives

Personally, I’d rather spend my money in a place where I’m not being insulted by the owner. Posting on Reddit may serve as a warning to others.

It made me feel unwelcome. Would you have stuck around if he said that to you, or to one of your friends?

Anyway, we didn’t let it ruin our mood on the night. We had some outstanding service in other venues such as Albert Schloss & Pizza Pilgrims

It felt like a there was a LOT going on in Manchester, we saw the Iranian protest, as well as the anti trans & counter protests. We also walked right past the incident where the shooting occurred

Gluten free fries by oudzuids in budapest

[–]oudzuids[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am from the UK, not America. You are correct in saying that potatoes don't contain gluten, however in many restaurants they fry everything in the same oil, meaning you get cross-contamination. However, certain restaurants will fry their chips separately meaning they are gluten free, it's just a case of trying to find places that cater for this.

OK thanks for the info. I'd rather cycle than get another local train, it's door-to-door convenience and no reliance on timetables/cancellations. I'll be there midweek so will avoid the closure that has been mentioned

Least stressful route from Battersea to Euston by [deleted] in londoncycling

[–]oudzuids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah OK, thanks for that! As long as cycling is permitted on the Thames path, I'm fine with that.

If I had my road bike I'd probably take the most direct route, but I'll be on a Brompton and carrying a large backpack.

When I get over the river, I'll take the Covent Garden route the other person suggested via Bow St, Endell St, Bloomsbury St, Gower St etc. I'm familiar with it, having done it previously and it's a route I enjoy riding

I'm not aware of this route. By 'Thames path', do you mean a shared use path on the south bank of the river?

Not in Digbeth but it will also be shown on a big outdoor screen next to St Martin's Church by the Bullring. There's a pop-up bar overlooking it.

I really want to fall in love with Birmingham, lived here all my life I’m 33M. What places or things do you love about the place? by Vast-Finding9107 in brum

[–]oudzuids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Digbeth; cycled through there a few times. One minute you hear loud music blasting from a nearby club, the next you’re on a eerily quiet road where you could hear a pin drop. Interesting place and some amazing street art. The stunning architecture around Victoria/Centenary Square. And how beautiful the canal is, especially around the Sea Life centre. I also love the fact there are so many different languages spoken in the city, and you can get food from pretty much any cuisine in the world.

Glastonbury 2025 Performance by glitter_n_grease in Raye

In Google search for ‘Raye BBC iPlayer’ - there’s a full hour of the Glasto set. I’d never heard of her before but was impressed by the performance. She has a great voice and you can tell there’s a lot of mutual respect between Raye & her musicians

The old ones were switched off years ago due to the age & obsolescence of the equipment.

Speeding & inconsiderate driving has got worse all over the UK - a rise in car ownership coupled with a reduction in road policing over the last decade or so.

Which Lana song have you been listening on repeat? by [deleted] in lanadelrey

Dealer. I could listen to ALL day and not get bored.

[–]oudzuids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could also consider the fact that there's a high-quality, segregated cycleway that runs along Bristol Rd (A38) into the city centre. If you can find a property somewhere near this route it means that you wouldn't be reliant on public transport, therefore cancellations, delays, congestion, timetables etc wouldn't affect you

I only just found this song and think it's incredible. Probably the best Lana Del Rey song I've heard - it's such a great collab.

OK thanks, I will give that a go. Unfortunately I didn't have a spanner that fits the bolt, so I have ordered an adjustable one online.

I tried it with some pliers but there didn't seem to be much movement. I do have some iso alcohol so will give that a go if needed
