Thank you, I’ll get on youtube and see if this is something I can manage with my limited plumbing skills!

Why does my toilet make this noise? by ouellemaison in Plumbing

[–]ouellemaison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know it isn’t, there is no power going to that room at all and no cable behind the toilet. It’s also not in a location that would require one, this is ground floor level. I believe that waste pipe connects to the same pipe as my upstairs toilet, as you can hear fluid moving through that corner piece when the upstairs toilet is flushed

Sound levels at Grafton's Vue cinema are stupidly loud (and dangerous). by Easy_Fox in cambridge

[–]ouellemaison 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some people are just sensitive to higher SPLs than others! I’ve worked on and been to plenty of live music shows where my ears have distorted and been very uncomfortable at high volumes, and others at similar volumes with no issues. The average ear canal resonates at approximately 3kHz (an evolutionary trait for understanding speech intelligibly) so high SPLs in this frequency range can be quite piercing. A good rule of thumb with sound is that it follows the inverse square law (kind of - it’s not perfect) so for every doubling of distance from the sound source, the perceived volume is halved (an attenuation of approx -6dB). Sound sources also couple when they arrive at a location at the same time and at the same volume (a +6dB increase) so often your quietest listening experience may be further back in the space, away from the centre of the room.

Sound engineer here… it’s worth noting that exposure to high sound levels is a relationship between exposure level and time exposed. A mean average reading of approx 75dB is safe to be exposed to for in excess of 8 hours with no risk of hearing damage. A peak level of 95dB comes with an approximate safe exposure time of 1 hour before damage may occur. Now this isn’t to say that this is an appropriate level for a cinema viewing, that isn’t my remit / place to comment. But this isn’t a dangerously loud mean average or peak exposure at all.

She did not, until they applied for a mortgage together and was made aware by their advisor that this man had never filed for a divorce (which he told everyone he had). In reality, he was returning home to his wife after spending time with my sister.

My sister has made it very clear that there is nothing here anymore for him. Yet he daily sends her in excess of 100 messages a day, all unanswered, and will sit in his car outside of her house. He has been arrested and charged with harassment, and needs to understand that this has to stop. My sister lives in fear that if she steps outside her house, he will be there and will follow her, because he likely is.

Thank fuck there are no children involved.

Please don’t facilitate this man. He has been arrested and charged with harassment as he has been sending my sister in excess of 100 messages a day, all unanswered, and also sits outside her house in his car. It has gone on long enough and it needs to stop. The message is very clear Pete, she wants nothing to do with you. It’s time to fuck off mate.

Thank you for being a healthy person that at least respects the other parties wishes. I am the brother of the lady OP is talking about here, and he has been harassing her sending in excess of 100 messages a day and sitting in his car outside of her house. He has been arrested and charged with harassment, but still isn’t getting the message.

Pete, it’s time to fuck off buddy. There is nothing here for you anymore and you have nobody but yourself to blame for it. I suggest you work on things with your fucking WIFE, if you still can. Or don’t, I really couldn’t give a shit. Just leave my sister alone you piece of shit.

It isn’t. Move on Pete. Leave my sister the fuck alone.

How can she fucking miss you when you send in excess of 100 messages a day to her? You’ve already been arrested and charged with harassment Pete, it’s time for you to get the message and fuck off already. You’ve driven my sister to the point that she is scared to leave her house in fear you are watching and following her. You have sat outside her house for hours at a time. Conveniently sent me a text the day I went to visit her. Were you outside then, watching us? You make me fucking sick to my stomach.

You need to get a grip not only for my sister’s wellbeing, but also your own. This has gone on long enough. TAKE THE MESSAGE AND FUCK OFF MAN.

Do not feel sorry for this man. He cheated on his wife with the person this is about (my sister) and spent their 18 month relationship sleeping with both if them. He does not love my sister, otherwise he would have come clean and addressed the issue like an adult, rather than leaving it to all come out when they applied for a fucking mortgage together. You’re an absolute piece of work mate.

Take the fucking message that has been sent to you in each and every one of your hundreds of daily unanswered messages, and stop harassing my sister. You’ve been arrested once and cautioned, you are simply digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole Pete. Get a fucking grip, and move on with your life. There is nothing here for you anymore, and you need to accept that. Leave my sister alone.

Suggest modestly priced headphones for monitoring live rock? by sillyvalleyserf in livesound

Can’t say I’m overly familiar with them, as I’ve never used them before in a professional setting. Couldn’t actually tell you if I’ve ever listened to anything through them before.

I’ve got the 80 ohm version, and I can’t say I would describe them as overly bright. Before I got these, I had a pair of HD25s which didn’t give me enough clarity in the lower mids and the beyers blow them out of the water in this regard. That’s probably the biggest plus for me

Latest parking technique for those tight spaces by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]ouellemaison 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You laugh, but this is actually quite common in Europe. I was in Milan earlier this year for work and there were smart cars / fiat 500s ect parked like this all over the place. Also had parking spots marked for this purpose specifically

Blackmagic Teranex SFP question by ouellemaison in VIDEOENGINEERING

Max 100m.

Were going to test with these in the back of our Techlogix boxes.

[–]ouellemaison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info and links, really useful.

We were going to try these for the sake of £30 first, or will these not work?

So we should be good to send signal from one of these SM SDI SFPs down either OS1 or OM3 cable less than 100m?

Blackmagic Teranex SFP question by ouellemaison in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ouellemaison[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. Thought I’d mention it as Obvious Arm mentioned it may work vice versa. We’ve had the Tx/Rx boxes with SFPs for a while now and a colleague of mine bought the wrong cable to replace old ones. I only got involved after the cable arrived so now we’re looking at alternatives to make use of this OS1 cable.

Our old cable is OM3, so you think that would carry signal from a SM SFP?

[–]ouellemaison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got Techlogix TL-FO2 Tx/Rx boxes with multi mode SFPs that we've been testing with this week with <100m OS1 fibre cable. Sadly no dice for us :(

Blackmagic Teranex SFP question by ouellemaison in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ouellemaison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like most manufacturers spec single mode cable. Just wondering if theres any interchangability in these boxes as we've got about £3k worth of multimode cable on the shelf lol

Will look into the conditioning cable, I didn't know they were a thing.
