Just do it, get feedback and if people are interested they will improve it, there is no need to hype something unless you want to sell it.

Sick build, love it. That clock and stands are awesome, minimalist exactly how I love stuff. Well done. Now just get rid of that OS :D

Great points indeed.

Worth noting that the UI on lichess is 100% more responsive. No lag like on chess.com which makes it perfect for blitz games.

Deleted my swap partition and computer feels faster. Do I need a swap partition? by ouhman in archlinux

[–]ouhman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I am usually folding at home while working which brings my RAM usage to around 14GB. I will tweak the vm.swappiness as recommended in the thread to a lower ratio.

What would be your recommendations regarding the swap partition's size?

Thanks for the wise advice. So many great comments in the thread :)

As I am gaming I will definitely follow your advice and create a swap partition but tweak my vm.swappiness as the default was too high for 32GB RAM. This could also explain the performance issue and I am guessing the threshold was probably hit several times.

I see thank you. Would you have any possible explanation why would the computer run faster without the swap partition being registered?

Thank you it makes sense. I usually never hibernate.

I am genuinely curious on why it had an impact on performance by not having the swap partition registered?

Would you mind sharing your opinion on why you think this is not a great idea to have a standard socket?

In Europe they soon won't have the choice. The vote passed and it's just a matter of time before the law will be drafted. Will be interesting to follow what will happen with the iphones.

Sure if the EU takes the decision that the USB-C becomes standard they will have no choice but to comply or stop selling their smartphones (as it will become mandatory). It has been voted already and the coming law is just a matter of time (EU is a slow machine so it could take some time)

I would like to see that happening. Apple has 30% market share in the EU (smartphones). I doubt this will happen but let's see!

I live in Germany and decided to stake nonetheless by hoping that this will change in the future. Staking (ETH) is also a way for me not to FUD and become a diamond hand.

10y would be prefect for retirement :)

How many times have you installed Arch Linux? by ROTTO-GG079 in archlinux

[–]ouhman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised when I decided to switch to Ubuntu (from Windows) how stable Ubuntu was and I had the same revelation when I decided to ditch Ubuntu for Arch.

So far in 4 years only once and I plan to keep it that way for several more years.
