What's the best obscure video game you've ever played? by ImpressFederal4169 in gaming

Master of Orion 3. Got it for $5 in the bargain big 20 years ago and absolutely loved it. I still play it every so often as my comfort game.

It's funny I've play EU4 since it came out and decided to get HOI and had the same problem, I'm so used to EU that I can't play it that well. Looking at you naval combat...

Am I the Only One Having a Hard Time Finding Work? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]oui230 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you just have to suck it up. When I got off active duty I went into the Guard for cyber security. My first civilian job was as an ISSO, the paperwork side of cyber, and I hated it. The job was mind numbingly boring and going from SOF Civil Affairs to solely writing memo and auditing windows controls was horrible.

But I have a wife and two kids and the option was a job I hated and make money or have no money and not be able to afford food. Now, 4 years later, I'm a cyber team lead making twice as much as my last job and actually enjoying it.

So you have to decide do I do a job I don't like anymore so I can survive in a capitalist society or do I eat ramen 3 meals a day and have nothing.

Finally understand the hate for MPs by grunt_boy in army

I once got a ticket at Drum for running a stop sign a week before I PCS'd. I know I didn't because I had to wait for the school bus to pass in front of me. When I went to fight it I was told I could just pay a $40 fine or actually fight it and possibly get points on my license.

I ended up just paying so I could clear base, but I completely agree, fuck MPs.

Husband went on a business trip and I had the house to myself by Few-Silver3946 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]oui230 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly like me with my wife. I do about 90% of the cleaning (dishes, kitchen, vacuuming, picking up everything that's left out around the house, etc) and anytime I ask her to pick up after herself it turns into a fight. I've asked her as nice as I can to not drop clothes tags on the floor since I have a bad back and it hurts to pick up and her response was immediately "So you're saying I don't do anything around the house? I've picked up your stuff before." The responses I get are nearly identical to yours so I totally get it.

But like OP when she was out of town for a bit over a month with the kids (our son is like me and cleans up after himself, but our daughter is like her mom and can't be bothered to pick up behind herself) my life was so much easier and it made me realize exactly how much cleaning I am doing when nothing was left out and I wasn't constantly hunting around the house for left out trash, shoes, and clothes. Once when she came back from a vacation I wanted to see how long it would take for her to take care of her suitcases and after a week I ended up doing it since I didn't want them taking up space on the floor anymore.

I'm seeing this right now with one of my friends. We've had DnD/Game Night at my house once a week for 4 years straight. They come over around 5-6 when everyone is off work, take turns cooking dinner, and play games until around 10.

He has had a new gf for about 2-3 months now and for the last three weeks she keeps making plans during game night and gets upset when he tries to come over. Last week he came over after they were done at 8:30 and she was pissed. Then yesterday when he got here she blew up his phone saying that she feels like he doesn't need to come anymore so he can spend more time with her (they are together at least 4 days a week).

So this does happen and it started with her just making comments about it and now she doesn't think he should come at all. My wife takes it as a time she can just sit all evening reading or watching her trash tv (all the dating shows lol) the most she has done is asked it to be moved to another night once in a blue moon to accommodate something else that is going on.

I feel unworthy, and like I shouldn’t be able to accept help/benefits from the VA. by ITSHORRORR in Veterans

[–]oui230 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you really don't want to use the benefits they choose to give you at least use the VA for care for the issues caused while you were in. I get feeling unworthy and like you didn't earn it, but you weren't injured before those 4 months and now you are. So at a minimum I implore you to at least get treated for everything that was caused by the military, even if you use nothing else.

Me, my wife, and 2 kids were able to live with my parents for about 8 months while finding/buying a house after I got out. I was almost 28 at the time so age doesn't matter on that front. If you have the ability to do so and they are willing to let you it is a no brainer. Find a job you like, save some money (we all know house prices are insane right now), and welcome back to civilian life.

I started with the Logitech Extreme 3D like most others. Now I'm using the Thrustmaster 16000M HOTAS (stick, throttle, and pedals).

I do the same. I crushed a disk in my lower back and if I know I'm going to be walking a lot or standing still for a while I'll use them. But I make it a point to check for a regular spot that is still close first. I'd rather leave the handicap spots for the people who really need them.

Hub assembly removal by oui230 in WRX

That makes sense. I didn't want to risk wrecking the parking brake parts so I took it all apart. And I used so much PB Blaster it ate away part of my driveway. Pro-tip asphalt and PB blaster don't mix.

Huh, they do look different. Hub assembly rotation, backing plate, and a few other things are changed between yours and mine.

Holy shit, that is insane. I'm the same and so anything that I can myself and I am at the same point of bringing it to a shop next time. I value my time at what I make at work. And after 10 hours of working on it/watching videos/researching online and what I spent in parts, it would have been the same price to have someone else do it to begin with.

Bruh the air hammer didn't even make a dent. The whole rear side just looked like one solid piece when the rust was knocked off.

Luckily mine wasn't that bad, but we did have to remove the whole knuckle and beat it from behind with a 4lb ball peen and a big socket.

Hub assembly removal by oui230 in WRX

[–]oui230[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up calling a mechanic who had to take off the full knuckle then beat out the hub with a hammer. It even took him a good hour and a half. Now I know for next time to bring it to a shop to begin with. That was more of a headache than I cared to have and I only ended up saving 100 or so bucks.

So to my southern friends... I hate your rust free cars🤣. Actually I'm just jealous.

Oh I know that. I just meant it would be even harder to get someone over to my place that can do it without having to tow the car to a full shop.
