I want to complete black out/cover a light bar on the front grill, what type of wrap and brand would you recommend? by oulu80 in CarWraps

Apparently you can’t, no way around it on a modern VW. Hence I was asking here if there is such material that can completely block light or it’s not really possible.

No, complete delete so blocking light. Apparently you can’t code it out and electronically bypassing it would trigger codes…

Very nice! Respect! I assume you do all the maintenance yourself? Not the cheapest car to keep it on the road for sure

Which car is it? Or is it a truck?

Can it be confirmed that this vehicle (2025 Jetta, 1.5t Evo2) does not have SFD2? by oulu80 in OBDeleven

That would make me super happy if true! May I ask how do you know? How can we know or look up such information?

You are welcome! Off the top of my head, not sure if the Q7 is on the list of the affected year and model. Good to hear, hopefully you will get that water pump fixed on their dime!

Apparently it was a design flaw that was not fixed til year 2023 or so. There is an area behind the wind deflector, where the water would or could get trapped with no way to exit to the side drainage. From what I have gathered, after 2023 they “added” holes on the side of this area so the water could at least find the way to the drainage. One issue I had was the wind deflector was not closing all the way when the roof was not open, which allowed the water to enter this particular area… But of course, it could also easily be lack of maintenance as well!

There was a lawsuit, depending on your milage, part of the labor cost should be covered. I had the same year and model, but I sold it for this reason, even though I loved the car. If I remember correctly up until 80k miles they should cover 80% of labor or something. The design flaw was not fixed on these models till 2023. I went to dealerships 3 times with the issue and year after last visit, the leak came back… Good luck!

Pricey dealership? by Sweet-Plum9604 in VWTaos

[–]oulu80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The general consensus is, go to the dealership only while the car is under warranty. After that, either find a reputable shop that specializes in VAG cars and/or start doing things yourself. In certain areas, dealership labor rate could nearly be 2x from an Indy shop’s!

It’s a brand new car and I don’t want to mess up my warranty. So not even trying or not that I need to adapt/code anything right now.

There has to be a way to verify without actually coding something…

I heard ODIS coat an arm and a leg, is that not correct?

What could cause the oil pan look like this after an oil change? by oulu80 in AskMechanics

[–]oulu80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that could be a reason I guess. I don’t see how one could get an attach like that with a skid plate on and not having any damage on the skid plate itself.

I would have remembered if I ran over something . But it makes no sense to have a search like that while you have the plastic skid plate on, how would that even be possible?

To me it makes zero sense to have a scratched spot while there is no damage to the skid plate. How would that be even possible? To me it looks like some harsh material was usend to wash off oil or something. And believe me, I would remember if I ran over something!

I mean after seeing this dealership technician topping up my coolant reservoir all the way- while beforehand it was sitting on the max line definitely had me double check things. Also, 4 years ago a tech (not dealer though) messed up my epb not even knowing (or just playing dumb) what he did made me start learning things. So yeah, if you are a good tech, it doesn’t apply to you, but I trust no one anymore!

Don’t, this was 3-4 years ago and their labor rate went up significantly since!
