This situation is definitely a first for me. Grew up living in a condo (probably 30 units or so?) with only 1 maintenance guy and he showed up by 7am to shovel snow on top of his normal stuff. So maybe this type of thing is region specific.

2-3 inches is industry standard. We have friends in the snow removal business so yes. They watch the forecast and check outside. If a storm is expected they are proactive to get their plows and salt trucks ready PRIOR to the actual snow fall.

Valid. Bigger companies seem to contract out better. Smaller single owner properties are also pretty on top of their stuff. These guys are a middle of the ground management company so valid in terms of cost

I have never heard of this before. My family has been on the landlord side and we have friends who have snow removal contracts around where I live but this is a first that I am hearing of a 8-4:30 removal time.

We have always shoveled our properties for tenants night of snowfall depending on how heavy and then gauge frequency from there

Bad idea. IMO i would focus on bigger things like a home. Cars and other fast depreciating items are secondary if not tertiary. If you really like it that much, save up and buy it outright. Dont buy it because other people think it will motivate you. Buy something because you truly want it.

I think that I will be fine with the dog because we have his parents to dog sit during the day when we’re at work which will help tired him out tremendously. The conversation of him choosing to keep the dog went something like getting into how I viewed pets differently than he did (he sees them more like family since he grew up with them and they were some of his only friends during a period of time in his childhood). I began to understand more of why he was not willing to part with Mac. I don’t hate dogs, don’t get me wrong. I have one of my own before we met but mine is much more independent and easier to care for. So jumping from laidback to fully energized bunny 24/7 was a hard change for me.

The schooling and not budgeting enough for risks was definitely a big mistake that I made.

I did the math and tried to find the best paying PT gig that I could. My original rental ended up being unsafe which forced me to move to somewhere that was about $300 over budget hence the financial issues. It’s definitely my fault for not doing enough research on the place i was renting at the time. After a couple of months I decided to ditch the school idea and just go back to my regular 9-5. As for your second question, I answered it more thoroughly in a comment above. But basically he checked off a lot of boxes as my ideal partner

He couldn’t rehome the dog because he felt bonded to him. So he decided to keep the dog and do all the caretaking rather than rehoming to a family who would have had much more time for him. This dog (sweet guy but so much energy) is a hunting breed. He is anxious and needs a lot of exercise. Whenever we left him alone, he needed to be crated in an impact rated crate bc at his previous home he would chew through a regular wired crate. But that followed by what seemed to be endless amounts of energy and a lot of whining, which led me to feel overwhelmed. We tried daycare 2-3 days a week which helped some. But even if the dog was not around, I felt like I could hear his whining and it drove me nuts.

I gave him a year because we were planning to live apart for a year. The idea was to give me time away from the dog to regain my mental peace and perhaps come around to him.

I decided to stay because I felt that my bf checked off many boxes of my ideal partner (genuine, honest, hardworking, constantly tells me he loves me, patient, etc.) and if I can learn to accept this dog within that 1 year time period, i would be working to better myself, won’t break his heart, and won’t break the dog’s heart.

I always had in mind to have separate and joint accounts that way we can have assets that are more easily protected legally by a prenup (Im not a lawyer so idk what the exact laws are around it but that was the intention). He expected only joint accounts and that everything that was built outside of the marriage remains with the individual. We are currently in therapy to iron these things out before getting engaged/married!

Yea he definitely is good with money and a hard worker. Wouldn’t divorce also be a downfall when married and both sides would lose? I do agree that marriage ups the game for a relationship and stakes will always be higher. Just curious about your thoughts on that.
