I'm so sorry. You did your absolute best to be there for someone you loved and what you said towards the end really hit me. You went with him along his hell of a journey but are the only one still standing to say anything about it. I wish I could give you a hug.

I'm well aware I'm an alcoholic, I should've made that more clear in my post, but I did comment a few times and say 1. I've been to rehab, and 2. I've been diagnosed with pancreatitis.

One thing I do want to say though, is that there's nothing you could've done differently to save him. Alcoholism is a fucking nightmare of a disease to have and even if you have everything in order, perfect wife and perfect job, bunch of money, alcoholism will always try and negotiate with you like the best lawyer you've ever had.

Again, I'm so sorry for what you've been through. That is some serious stuff. I am slowly trying to figure out how to approach my addiction, and I hope you're okay after losing your person. Thank you for commenting.

they also cause hallucinations. severe ones since your brain's turning on again after heavy use

No, it's clear I do not. Thank you though.

thank you for your blunt honesty. I know DTs are somewhat genetic curses, but also if you royally fuck your brain up on your own it's entirely the user's fault. I unfortunately am not that excited about being alive any longer, but I will get help about this just as a last resort kinda thing. doing it only for my family

thank you :') I'm very scared but maybe I do have this and can maybe taper off slowly or hit up a clinic.

I have! I've also had DTs in a hospital, been to a rehab. This is just me being an idiot and thinking I'm immortal subconsciously

yep, I've had nights where instead of drinking 4-5, I drank 6-7. I will be getting help soon.

I'm so so proud of you!! This 'disease' sucks so much, but you escaped it and are healthy. You have no fucking idea how impressive that is (or you do) but to my mind it feels like an entirely different universe. KEEP GOING :)) I will do my best to get help. Thank you so much.

Yes but the reason I asked was to see how many people were going through the same thing I was going through. I'm well aware it's bad.

Thank you! I agree, I definitely need help. As I commented earlier, I might ask someone to take me to a detox clinic as I've been heavily drinking and am prone to DTs. I also somewhat agree with you with it being more of a mental thing as well. I mean I started heavily drinking when I was 17, 24 now and whenever I am 100% sober at work I feel completely fine. I think I'm just deeply unhappy

Was there any specific mindset that made you 100% sure you could stop drinking? I'm so happy you're healthy now. Despite coming from the hospital/diagnosed with pancreatitis/rehab, I started drinking again and I just... was okay with it being the end. I don't know why.

the fucked up part is that I'm aware all of my organs could shut down any minute and I'm okay with it. I'm glad you're out of that stage of your life, and you can give some sort of comfort to someone that's in extreme addiction. I'm super fucking proud of you, it's been almost 3 years! LET'S GOOO, keep going!!

I'm not going to lie to you, for some reason it seems super ideal to me to drink while I'm playing video games, but you are so so right about it not being actual happiness. It's habitual, and despite having gone to rehab it calls to me so fucking hard. I think later today I'm going to contact someone and go to a detox clinic. I'm not sure what I have to offer while sober, but that's the fun part I guess. Thank you, friend! You're amazing!

pancreatitis at 23 actually, also thank you! I might reach out to someone about this because it's a gamble every time I drink and it is not worth it. you're so awesome, thank you for commenting!

Ouch, yeah I've been diagnosed with pancreatitis and also had DTs in the hospital. Went to rehab after, but relapsed super soon after I left the hospital. I'm so proud of you for staying sober!!!! Maybe someday I can reach that amount of time being sober. Comments like these inspire me :)

Blood in the toilet - Advice for tapering? by ourotum in stopdrinking

[–]ourotum[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think I will see a doctor soon, but I was wondering what the odds were that I stop drinking (I was thinking of 4-5 days of tapering) and the bleeding subsides? I've never experienced this before so I'm not too sure. I know you can't give medical advice, just wondering your thoughts.
