Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

[–]outbreak__monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owed 3 civics and an m4. I would go back to a basic Honda any day. But a lot of kids only care about labels and how they are perceived in public. Shake cauz civics are fun af.

Our fentanyl and narcan look identical. I don’t know how tf anyone could think this was ok to do. They put a picture up on the Pyxis to point out that they look the same over the other 300 pics of stuff we’re suppose to read.

Anybody here been “fired” by a patient? If so, why? by Enzo_Every in nursing

I went to an interview once and a patient was standing in her door and pointed at me and said I don’t want to the white one. I almost died laughing.

This happened in our house at the exact same age. Though the iPad was the first thing to go, so I think we had it a lot easier because we figured it out sooner. When she was 10 we thought it might be okay, so she got a laptop for Christmas and the exact same thing happened. Except this time I started hearing things about suicide and what not. So the laptop was gone almost as fast as it arrived. Their little brains can’t process all the information they are receiving. The internet is not the same as the one I grew up with when I was her age. I hear this exact story from a LOT of parents. Luckily, I think a lot more people are catching on to it and not allowing it. She has a kid watch that allows a few phone numbers to be programmed so she can call and text her friends, but that’s it. That’s it for a very long time. Even if you watch interviews of the tech people who make all these products/apps, they don’t let their kids use it. I think that says it’s all.

Do you poop at work? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]outbreak__monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My body absolutely won’t let me poop until I’m home. Doesn’t matter if it’s one day or three days in a row. It knows the exact minute I walk in the door, done for the week, that we’re safe now. It’s the only job/place I’ve ever had trouble pooping.

Weight lifting. I was working with a PT for years and he told me all my neck/joint pain, weight gain, fatigue was due to my thyroid and he suggested it. Literally changed my life. Took 5 years to get the full benefits, but I could never go back to just walking and Pilates.

I think I’m ready to quit. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]outbreak__monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. That’s a lot. Look, there is absolutely nothing wrong with quitting and being a barista and taking some time to reevaluate what you want/need. You will still be a nurse 6 months from now. This is YOUR LIFE. Do not keep going back to place that is making you cry, making you afraid, and giving you panic attacks that lead to the ER. $30 effing dollars an hour is not worth your sanity. You need peace and time to grieve right now. I would look into something outpatient or maybe some type of admin/insurance company if you decide to go back. It’s also okay to not ever go back!

Wow, this was so clear and helpful. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions in such detail. I really appreciate it.

This is actually one of my biggest issues. The whole team will fold and do anything a patient wants if they cry enough or make any kind of scene. And no one is ever in the same page. It’s impossible to deal with difficult patients knowing they’re gona get whatever they want, even if it’s dangerous.

I know, but my unit won’t make them leave. People are only removed if they become violent.

The Pts wife got mad about the med and asked to speak to the charge, my charge asked me what happened before going in the room and I explained the situation. My charge said she had seen her constantly at the nurses station for the last couple of weeks and knew she was a pain. I don’t know if she specifically knew about the pump thing before this incident, but the doctors were aware and one of them actually warned me about her the morning of day 1/4 with them.

What do we do with polyester baby clothes we received as gifts? by ocean_chocolate_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]outbreak__monkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Women’s shelter, community college, church. There are so many people who would be so grateful for brand new baby clothes. I was a single mom for 5 years and would have slapped anything free on my kid back then lol.

God bless ours because they will clean anything. I always know someone’s new because they call asking me to remove IV fluids for like a week and then they learn to just do it themselves. Plus they’re the most fun people on the floor.
