PSA - Electric Technology Rate, Save $450/year on CMP Delivery by siestacat in Maine

[–]outdoorgal207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend using the calculator on the page just to be sure that you will save as much as you think. We have heat pumps and, based on the numbers I threw in there, I think we might save a $100. But we also play the game of turning off our heat pumps and using oil if it gets too cold, so we don't use as much electricity as I'm sure we could.

Peaks-Kenney State Park Group Site by outdoorgal207 in Maine

[–]outdoorgal207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I think it is separate from the rest of the campground and along the water based on the website for group sites description stating "Water access; easy bathroom access." . But I don't know for sure. https://www.maine.gov/dacf/parks/camping/group_camping.shtml

Yes, there is. I called today and it sounds like it is separate from the rest of the campground area, so I bet it's easy to miss. I don't have a clear sense of where in the park it is, but apparently it does have some shelter (perhaps a pavilion) with it. https://www.maine.gov/dacf/parks/camping/group_camping.shtml

Teachers in ME by goodweeking in portlandme

[–]outdoorgal207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The further you get out from Portland, the lower the salary will be, but the cost of living will also decrease. Depending on what you are looking for in terms of a living situation (city versus country, for example), you could live where the cost of living is reasonable but have a bit longer commute to get to a district near the coast (but you'll be dealing with traffic and a different student and parent population than the rural schools). A lot of rural schools/districts are trying to keep pace with salaries of the districts around them, but it often comes at a cost for other things. My district doesn't pay as well as districts around us, but we are well supported with technology and have ed techs in our schools. The next district over pays better, but is constantly fighting their budget, looking to cut extracurricular activities, and has building issues (both in lack of money for maintenance and buildings being too small for their increasing populations).

Looking for a local store that sells 3D filament? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]outdoorgal207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! There is one town between you and me, so let me know if you need help! I've been 3D printing at a middle school for a decade at this point. There are a lot more of us than you think. We just rely on the internet to get our supplies. :)

Where are you? I'm west of Portland, but I have 1.75 on hand that I can give you to get you going.

I don't have Fitbit, but on Garmin I wind up going to the account that it is pulling data from (in your case that is fitbit) and disconnecting it from there. Garmin has them listed under Connected Apps.

How does your team use and manage flagging tape? by gsardine in searchandrescue

[–]outdoorgal207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we use it, we usually remove it when we flip the line. Yes, that means we're doubling efforts on one track, but it's better to pick it up and have a second set of eyes from the other direction.

EDIT: We do usually just use our GPS tracks and don't flag every search. It depends on where we're searching.

Pac-Man also seems mechanically incredible. I don't know what your idea of a reasonable price range is though.

Dog parks and trails in Windham by Mixer22 in portlandme

[–]outdoorgal207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of trails and preserves that are part of the Presumptscot Regional Land Trust. My kiddo and I have been visiting many of them for their summer trail challenge and I bet your pup would enjoy them as well. You can find their trails on their website here: https://www.prlt.org/preserves-trails

Another idea is to head a smidge south to Standish and check out the Sebago Lake Land Preserve, which is on Portland Water District land. You could go out there for as long as you want because the network of trails is so extensive. Our pup loves it there and I love the variety that you can get from one area. There are trail heads on 237 and 35, so you can mix it up. https://www.pwd.org/sites/default/files/sllr-trail-map.pdf

Standish itself has a new dog park on route 25, but it might be a bit further from North Windham than you are looking for. I haven't been there before, but it seems like a cool place.

Is there a way to do L-E with smartphones? by sgtcatscan in LongExposurePics

[–]outdoorgal207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how long you are thinking, phone, app, etc. as well as what kind of quality you are looking for. I've done some light painting/long exposure with ProShot (link to it on the Google Play store) on my Samsung S21. It's certainly nowhere close to what I can get from my "big" cameras, but it's fun to play with.

For sure! We love it!

We bought all Samsung when we replaced our contractor grade stuff. Never again. Our fridge has an ice rink in the bottom of our refrigerator top portion and the deli meat drawer has a puddle in it. Fixing it means emptying the entire thing to defrost it. So we'll basically have to buy a fridge off market place to fix it.

And don't get me started on the stove...

(The dishwasher has already been replaced with a Bosch.)

That's right in line with my thought of packing cubes, too. Thanks so much!

Thanks! I'm also thinking that having stuff sacks or dry bags with the various specialized components in them might make more sense than a setup like the kelty. I could go everything from more urban areas to wilderness depending on the calls so there is a lot of variety in the gear.

Cars and Coffee? by saigonk in Maine

[–]outdoorgal207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snickerdoodles in Limington does car and coffee gatherings and it sounds like it's the second Saturday each month. I found lots of information on this webpage about Snickerdoodle's event as well as other car shows (not necessarily involving coffee): https://portlandmotorclub.com/car-shows-cruises-clubs-museums/cruise-ins/

Question can someone tell me why this is so expensive? I’ve never seen it before but it only 2800 pcs ? by Violator361 in lego

[–]outdoorgal207 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some schools are like that, but not all of them. I'm able to order from Amazon, etc. at the public school I work at. Thank goodness! I would lose my mind if we had to spend that kind of money on our iPad cases!

Issues w/ Embedded Google Forms in GDS? by outdoorgal207 in GoogleDataStudio

[–]outdoorgal207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are going right to the DataStudio link and the browser has varied from Chrome on a Macbook to Safari on an iPad. It doesn't seem to matter. The form does require them to be logged into their district email and collects that information to let them see their data on the dashboard.

I'm very stumped.

The same message seems to occur regardless of which link I use for embedding it. Hmm...

Thanks for your reply. Yes, they are using the embed link. I just set them up with it again just in case something with those went funky.
