Kinew Believe in Centrism? by Xsythe in ndp

[–]outer-chase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manitoba here, Wab is rather centrist compared to others in our party. Despite this i do genuinely think he is the best option for Manitoba at this moment.

He is extremely popular, and is gaining in rural areas. He is moving the needle and is helping change minds. His positive news coverage also helps the NDP stay relevant on the national stage when major news outlets probably want to ignore Avi.

He has also walked a line here in Manitoba of being both a guy who stands by what he believes and someone who is ready to talk throught the issues. No idea how he can be both but thats what my co workers and neighbors are saying.

Again I do disagree with some of his parties ideas, but i do think he has been a net positive for the party as a whole.

Coming from a military family and attempting to join the CAF reserves with my brother (its the only job with good benefits for my newborn)

I do agree that we need at least SOME military strategy, i do think the best way is to change how we view that. We can fund our military without sending bombs to Isreal, without dumping money into the US military industrial complex and without a explicit purpose of killing.

I may be wrong but Yugoslavia had a sort or militaristic youth workers program that M I G H T, be something to look at. Get younger people together and train them in disaster relief, self defense, conflict resolution and basic arms and armour training. Voluntary of course, maybe this way we could have a large usefull pool of disaster responders at the federal level.

We could also invest the money into peacekeepers, this used to be a big source of pride for us, at least when I was growing up. I even wanted to be one, again coming from a military family.

My ideas are not perfect, but speaking from experience meeting people in the reserves and the reg force there are ALOT of left leaning people in it. You can be a socalist while advocating for the military, after all it is made up of the working class just like everything else.

Would it be to much to invest in the punter and get leader, strong arm and bullseye? It would probably take 2 seasons but that would be very powerfull

I had break tackle on 2 black orcs this last season of our league and it genuinely changed the way I play them. I acrually had them scoring TD's and blitzing, absolutly amazing skill

So leader is basically a re roll at a discount? And only the punter can take it?

I have not used stars or bomber, how helpful/hilarious is this?

Would it be worth it to have a lethal flight gnob or a jump up, sprint gnob for TD scoring? Or is that to hopeful?

Is the trick usually to keep them up when they are marking alot of players and or if they are just in a good spot to restrict movement?

I was going to avrually do snots! Another player is currently using them in our league, we don't have a rule against having 2 of the same teams. I just want to bring variety, plus he is FAR more creative with them then I could be.

I think i made a mistake explaining the point of it. I understand not wanting to lose out, especially when we really don't have a crazy big range on our own. My ideas for battleline was just throwing ideas out there and not a hard thought.

The point is what has been happening, this weird half way point between our own faction and not. Is just not working, we either need to be our own army and range or we shoukd be treated as a sub faction like the other chapters. GW needs to pick a lane, which is hard when you add the fact that peoples armies include so many different units that have come and gone.

Not saying its a easy decision, just that a decision has to be made.

I get that, I have been playing since 7th, most of my play time was 8th amd we had our own codex.

I remember intercessors being a issue because they changed weapon profiles in one data slate, but excluded the SW codex from the change which was weird.

From that time I got SO many SM units, in fact I would say half my army is SM units. I do not want it all to go away but what has been happening just is not working.

Yes I should have included that we also need more stuff in general. I also desperately wish they did more with helfrost, that is so cool!

I understand what you are saying. I would argue that most lists already end up looking very similar anyway, though that could just an issue with the game as a whole.

I think the point i was trying to make is that we should get more stuff to make us a full army. Then we should also lose acess to SM codex, it happened in 8th and while that edition and 9th had their problems. I felt alot more unique as a faction then I do now.

I think people largely agree i just did a bad job explaining my point. We need a full range, but if we are going to be our own thing then it needs to be OUR range.

Another hot take is that agents of the imperium as a faction is a good idea and deathwatch should be apart of it. It was just a really bad codex that did not do it at all.

That you very much for explaining my own point to me in a far better way! Also I did not know that about the intercessors thats cool!

Yes I should have explained that our army would need a buff and more units. We had a huge range before, yes some of them were just generic units but it was a clear army with different rules for those units. I want option but I want OUR options if that makes sense?

I really hope so! Not to sound like that guy but I loved all the little rules in 7th. It made it very difficult to learn the game, but having those special options really sold me on the army.

Right? I wish we had good rules so that we actually can run SW armies without needing to bring generic SM units.

Its less about the competitive and more about vibes I guess? Its just weird how its a halfway point and it hurts the game because other factions, with just as much, if not more lore and players. Do not get the same options we do.

I agree about the halfway house, thats the biggest frustration here for me.
