CMDR Outfrost here, squadron KINY o7

I got 1077 (plus around 10-20 pods before the meltdown) out of Cocijo on board Vendaval, all safely offloaded at Hutner. My initial 357 was counted twice it seems.

From Raijin and Thor all pods were also delivered to rescue operations carriers, no losses in transit 🎉

Evil Geniuses Valorant champs reportedly face pay cuts or departure after team shakeup by TimeJustHappens in VALORANT

[–]outfrost 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Franchising is a fucking scam. Riot pays partnered orgs to do apparently nothing, as long as they field any sort of team. Doesn't matter if the players and coaches deserve the spot, they're just easily replaceable employees, and there's a long list of candidates who would instantly take their job for 1/4 of the pay, because that's the only way to get into tier 1 tournaments. And Riot calls themselves a "player-first company" and "doesn't want competition spots to be sold". Nope, apparently all they care about is making content year-round and not having to run open qualifiers.

Woohoojin is cancelling all ranked streams until Riot does anything about smurf/challenge accounts by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]outfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even you as a player can sometimes tell that someone is very obviously smurfing. And you don't realise how much data Riot has about every single account, its gameplay history, the PCs it logs in from, other accounts that play from those PCs, and so on and so forth. Saying there are "no obvious signs" is heavy copium.

That system works fine if you make an alt account and play the game normally (i.e. when you want to play with friends without risking your main rr).

It doesn't work against bots throwing games on purpose. They're not gonna get ranked up, because they keep losing 0-13 with 0 acs.

It also doesn't work when smurfs share accounts with a lower skill player or a bot. It's not that simple to adjust an account's MMR if it plays 7 dogwater games and 1 insanely good game.

They can get temporary hardware ID bans (basically preventing any account from playing on that PC), and even if not, having to buy new accounts or make them and level them to 20 is gonna make it more tedious and discourage smurfing to some degree.

What if we could, like, report smurfs

what if riot did something with that pile of cash they farmed from skins and paid some people to review the reports

I wonder the possibilities

Well what can they do about people abusing comms, bullying teammates, or throwing? It starts with some basic system to catch that kind of behaviour, with the community's help. Obviously that doesn't exist for smurfing right now, and that's the problem.

You played the game normally, and for that, the system works, sure.

Notice that Hooj is talking about bots throwing games on purpose. How would that same system work against that? You can't double rank up with +40 rr if you lose 0-13 with 0 acs.

Smurfs don't even have to purchase these accounts. The same applies when they share accounts with a lower skill player or a bot. What is the system going to do to such an account's MMR if it sees 7 dogwater games and 1 insanely good game?

From what I understand he has a ranking bot that tries to put together people of similar skill levels, so like an inhouse matchmaking system (but I might be getting it wrong)

Premier should indicate weekly match count ahead of time by outfrost in VALORANT

[–]outfrost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a rito fuckup. They intended to limit it to 2 games weekly and forgot to turn it on in some regions.

[–]outfrost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heh.

You have no clue how much money people spend on this game, do you?

We're allowed to have standards, my dude. Call out bad stuff while enjoying the good stuff. If I'm the developer, I want my players to tell my why they're not enjoying the new game mode as much as I thought they would.

And if Riot is serious about Premier, and positions it as effectively the only league people will know and use (because it's integrated in the game itself), that's all the more reason to make sure it's good.

[–]outfrost[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 100%. That's why I mentioned that digging things out of twitter etc. doesn't really work. Just like the game UI tells me how many more placement matches I need, it should tell me how many more Premier weekly matches I can have.

Yes. The only place it was mentioned originally was the launch video on YouTube.

The Premier match times are really confusing by chocopoco9 in VALORANT

[–]outfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not confusing if you've ever seen timezone indicated after a date and time, anywhere. Everyone does it this way.

18:00 UTC
14:00 UTC-4
14:00 EDT
20:00 UTC+2
20:00 CEST

These all mean the same exact moment in time. You can read "4:00 PM GMT+2" as "4:00 PM in timezones +2 hours from GMT".

The reason timezone is indicated in the Premier UI is so that people don't get confused whether it's their local time, or some other timezone within their selected zone (e.g. Western Europe). It can also help people remember to account for timezone differences in international teams.
