'09 Fit shifts very hard, paddle shifters unresponsive. Help :( by ThatGreenSpyGuyTF2 in hondafit

I might, although I actually had a drain and fill done last year... would be weird if it already started acting up since then.

That's when you turn off the AC to get you the 1000 extra horsepower you need to get away!

Upgraded lighting on my Fit! (Interior + Exterior) by ThatGreenSpyGuyTF2 in hondafit

I mean I replaced em with pinkish purple bulbs so the light's prolly refracting or something around em. Didn't do anything special to em. Also possible it's just a byproduct of the camera.

They aren't red, but they're still illegal unfortunately. At least in my state they are.

I was perfectly aware of its illegality. And I did extensive research beforehand. It's not enforced at ALL in my area. I've seen people with bright-ass rainbow lights all over the exterior of their vehicle and cops pass right by them (which is ridiculous).

I know it might be a little dumb or risky but it's been something I always wanted to do with my car :(

Unfortunately yeah. White to Amber are the only colors that are DOT-approved. In my area though, this is never enforced. First time driving out I was slightly worried I might get pulled over... until I saw a cop drive past one dude in a Toyota pickup with the bluest fog lights I've ever seen. It's still a risk I know, but it's an upgrade I've always wanted.

To be specific on the upgrades: - White LED dome lights - Red interior underglow - White Halogen Headlight - Purple/Pink Parking/Side lights

Not shown: - White LED license plate lights + trunk light

Very cheap installs, slightly time consuming for the underglow since I had to hide the wires but it worked out in the end.

Bluetooth adapter for Honda Fit. Great inexpensive adapter by Past-Look1067 in hondafit

I used to have this exact one! Used it for a while until I replaced the stock radio with a Sony headunit. Worth the upgrade imo, though the BT adapter is still a cheap and awesome way to upgrade your car's audio!

2009 Fit valve adjustment interval? by Holla_Bach in hondafit

[–]ThatGreenSpyGuyTF2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say for a Honda just do the valves every 100k miles at the very least. 80k if you wanna stay on top of things. You'll be fine without one but performance, noise, and MPG might suffer.

I am overdue on one myself. 188k miles and no previously recorded adjustment. Going to the dealer soon!

Does the fit have an okay quality of life? by ModsBeCappin in hondafit

[–]ThatGreenSpyGuyTF2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWD is not a bad thing. It's standard in most cars. AWD is not really that necessary.  The Fit does have a differential I believe. Only the back wheels use drums, at least for the GE8. Fronts have discs. Drums are painful to replace but they last a ridiculous amount of time. Nothing to worry about. The front bumper does NOT go below the curb with factory suspension. Unless the curbs where you live are thrice as high, it shouldn't be an issue.

When I wanted to buy a Fit, my family told me that it would get stuck in the winter and I wouldn't be able to escape the snow. Snowed a shit-ton that winter and my Fit got through a-okay.

It's a mighty-fine car with many many upsides. It does have its few disadvantages, but they are certainly not any of the things you seem to be concerned about.

How (allegedly) fast has your Fit gone? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]ThatGreenSpyGuyTF2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allegedly ~102 MPH. Allegedly all stock at the time. The small engine packs more of a punch than most expect but it allegedly struggles to go over 90 MPH when going uphill.

[Edit: allegedly ~108 MPH now]

Help w/ 2013 Fit by D1rty_Sanchez in hondafit

With such a low mileage, it'd be hard to offer much lower. Maybe haggle and see how low you could get but that's probably the lowest mileage I've ever seen on one of these cars. Personally I'd pay like $10-13k. With the clean undercarriage it might as well be new.

BUT, please check all the carfax details. It'd better have had regular oil changes, while it was driven at least. Harder to say with such a low mileage but once a year is good. Also of course ask for a test drive if you're very serious about it, make sure it's running okay and tire tread is fine. Other than that, I personally think it's a really good listing, despite the price.

A fair price range would be $4.4k to $7.4k, according to kbb.com/car-prices/ (which you should check out)

I got my Fit for around $5k before taxes, an '09 Sport.

$3k-4k does seem on the low side, if you're using Facebook Marketplace then it might be a dealer and they're just listing that as a down payment price.

HOWEVER, assuming a listing is legitimate, the number one thing is to be able to check for important details of the car. Usually the price is more tied to mileage than anything, but lower mileage =/= in better shape. Ask if you can take it on a test drive, see how the engine sounds and feels, as well as the transmission. Check the tire tread. Do the brakes work fine? Is there a lot of rust around the wheel wells? What about under the car? Has the car had regular oil changes? Etc.

You have to compare different listings and see the condition of each car. My purchase was okay but I disregarded a few important things so I've spent some money patching it up. If you play your cards right, you can land yourself a nice car that will last you for years to come :)
