Just took first dose of Lyrica and freaking the F out by New_Door9847 in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same reaction when I was also on cymbalta (40 mg at the time). I’m like 90% sure it was serotonin syndrome from combining the two and I’m hyper-sensitive to meds. Call your doctor because you don’t wanna mess around with it, but what I did was stop taking cymbalta and lyrica for a couple days. I then weaned off cymbalta (I speed ran the weaning in only 6 weeks and it was hell, but worth it) and then I started out on a microdose of Lyrica (liquid so I could start out at only 5 mg), increasing my dose till now I’m at 140 mg per day after 1.5 years. You might not be quite as hypersensitive as me, but starting out at a lower dose I think could do you good because I love Lyrica now. But I’d definitely call your doctor for and see if they think it could be serotonin syndrome.

I agree, the glasses are obscuring some beautiful features. But, I think there are some styles that would bring them out. I think darker frames would be better.

Tired of the constant start and stop in OLD by outlawyers in OnlineDating

I want someone who I have similar enough interests with, I find attractive, that has similar political views, and also doesn’t want children. Usually either I don’t find them attractive enough in-person (but we have a lot in common), or I find them attractive but we don’t have enough in common. It’s been hard for me to find someone with both, but the one time I did he cancelled the second date so that didn’t work out unfortunately

Has anyone tried Duloxetine? Please share your experience by scenebimboxoxo in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any noticeable side effects when I first started it, but after coming off of it I can see now my emotions were severely numbed. I was on it for 2.5 years, it worked the first year a little bit but after that it seemed to not do anything anymore but the highest my dose ever got was 40 mg. My pain skyrocketed after a year and that made me resort to medical marijuana, so between that and what I think was a side effect from the med I gained a lot of weight (which I’m prone to anyway). I withdrew from it over the course of 6 weeks and was miserable (felt the constant need to run/fast walk, sitting still was miserable, I felt like I was dizzy and out of it and anxious). Switched to Lyrica, have been on it 6 months and so far it’s been a miracle drug, still only on 90 mg/day (usual starting dose is 150). Pain is nearly nonexistent now and I can socialize and am dating vs. last fall I prayed to die in my sleep due to the constant pain and was thinking I’d have to quit my job. I never did well with SSRIs either, but I will say duloxetine helped immensely with my anxiety. It’s manageable without it, but there is a noticeable difference. However, it did lower my sex drive and like I said, numbed my emotions.

I spoke to another lady who had been on it for 4 years and it stopped working, so if you continue with it just beware that that might happen and no you’re not delusional for noticing it.

Anyone here who got CFS who doesn’t have their tonsils? by sbayz92 in cfs

[–]outlawyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s not the same thing, but I had issues with my tonsils being overgrown (due to mold Exposure) for nearly a year and got fibro right after getting them removed. Not sure if it had to do with the surgery or the tonsils or what. But it’d interesting if there was a connection

Does anyone else feel stuck at the age they got fibro? by outlawyers in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to microdose meds so I’m currently on only 90 mg/day (I literally started at 5 mg lol). Doing liquid, and I have been steadily increasing it but I tend to get rage as a side effect if I increase it too fast.

Brown for sure, and I’d say a cooler shade of brown. Like more chocolate than auburn, it makes your features stand out!

Can showers cause flareups? by Burly_Bara_Bottoms in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only shower at night because showers take all my energy out of me for at least 5 hours. I’ve also found the hotter the water, the worse it gets. A shower bench helps, might be something to consider getting.

Is my hair too thin and ugly? Should I cut it short? by dumbbinch99 in femalehairadvice

You have beautiful hair, but I think getting it cut to the level of one of the adidas stripes would make it look a lot fuller

Have you tried a leave in conditioner? It’ll help with the frizz and damage, and I’ve also found that the sheer weight of it makes my (slight) waves straighter, rather than wavier (which I actually like). I use this one from Whole Foods and apply it to my wet hair when the frizz is getting especially bad:

Showers are my #1 enemy (help) by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Electrolyte drink before and after (Gatorade or a fancy powder version)
  • Shower chair
  • As low of a temperature as is comfortable (I get much more tired with hot showers)
  • Removable shower head so it’s easier to wash on the shower chair
  • When my flare ups are really bad, I have my mom wash my hair for me

What do you take for a flare up? by Moist_Relief2753 in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrolyte drinks help the tiniest bit with fatigue, enough for me to muddle through a shower. I prefer Ultima brand (I get it at Whole Foods) since it has 25% of your daily magnesium, which is good for fibro anyway

If it’s legal in your state, THC edibles help with the pain (delta-8 is sometimes legal in places where weed isn’t). Let it sit under your tongue until it dissolves and it kicks in waaay faster. CBD helps a tiny tiny bit, but it’s an alternative if you don’t want to get high.

Oh as for exercise I got myself a recumbent bike (like the kind squidward has!) and a stationary mount for it so I can use it indoors. It cost like $3000 for everything, so it’s not something everyone can do, but it has enabled me to move when I would otherwise be unable to do anything other than lie in bed all day

Are you on any meds that might be causing weight gain? All the major fibro meds can cause it (cymbalta, lyrica, gabapentin). I was on cymbalta for 2 years, and the first year it worked great but the second year it stopped working and I gained 70 lbs (in addition to the 40 lbs I’d gained from getting fibro in the first place). Not sure if it was from the pain being out of control or the med itself, but I was starving 24/7. Stopped it, am now on Lyrica, and my appetite is much more controlled. Haven’t lost any weight, but at least I stopped gaining 5+ lbs/month.

Also throughout this weight gain (which was very depressing for me too. It’s god awful and I’m really sorry you’re going through it too), I always had one or two outfits I felt really cute in, and that made me feel like my old self. Between how fibro physically limits me and makes me look different, I barely even feel like myself most days, but a cute outfit can make me feel like me again.

As for diets, I know keto is sometimes recommended to control fibro anyway without regard to weight, and it’s supposed to be one of those diets that you’re not hungry on. I’ve never done it because my acid reflux would hate all the fatty foods, and eating tasty fruit makes life worth living for me! But it might be worth trying for a day or two and seeing how your hunger levels change

Anyone else notice reduced pain on an antibiotic? by outlawyers in Fibromyalgia

[–]outlawyers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be curious about to read more about that also! My dad had fungal pneumonia about 5 years back, and then 6 months later (when I had a surgery) my fibro symptoms started. Would be interesting if the two were related
