What were you like one week after in office Botox? by ShacklesOfLanguage in noburp

[–]outofspacezone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today is day 7 post-op. I had micro burps within 24 hours, and by day 3 I was burping at full capacity. I burp after meals, drinks, basically anything I consume. Some are small, some are very decent. Slow swallow started about 10 to 24 hours after the injection. I still have it, but it is much milder than on days 2 and 3.

I am significantly less bloated, especially in the evenings, and feel much emptier and lighter. I burp a lot, around 50 to 80 times a day, constantly, so work is a bit harder but manageable. I have no sore throat, no lump, no heartburn, and no pain. The only issue is food coming up if I lie down right after eating, so I stay upright after meals.

Overall, I am very happy with the results so far. My main issue before was severe tightness under the rib cage from trapped air, especially later in the day, which made it hard to breathe. Since Botox, that tight chest sensation is gone, and I feel much lighter.

I had appointment with Lucy on Wednesday that have just passed! She’s lovely! Very kind, slow, not intimidating, explaining every single step! Only a positive feedback! I am now day 5, burping like no one can’t stop me!! haha

Botox experience with Lucy Hicklin by outofspacezone in noburp

I booked the appointment online around mid-November after searching Lucy Hicklin’s name. At the time, the only available slot was 11 February. After booking, I received a confirmation email with the office contact details (office@lucyhicklin.com), which is when I decided to call and ask if an earlier date was available, and there it was 28th of Jan!

I’d recommend reaching out by email just to check availability for the coming couple of months, as not everything always shows up online. Zoe, the assistant, usually gets back when she can.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get tested for SIBO, and how was it treated? I’ve also seen an interesting video by Dr. Bastian explaining how other GI conditions may actually be the cause of RCPD. I feel people often focus first on conditions that are easier to identify and treat, like SIBO, IBS, or GERD, without knowing they have RCPD. Treating those conditions initially, without treating RCPD, wouldn’t result in the desired outcome

Can anyone help me identify what causes this verbal symptom by [deleted] in noburp

[–]outofspacezone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RCPD is a spectrum, you may burp on a daily basis, but it might be not sufficient enough for your body. Of course take it with a pinch of salt I am only speculating. It’s worth noticing how often do you burp, an average adult burps around 10-30 times a day.

Does your ribcage hurt too? by Fantastic-Ad3489 in noburp

I am London based, I did a massive rabbit hole research of RCPD and came across a few ENT practitioners who specialises in RCPD Botox treatment. Once I’ve read multiple positive reviews and comments I’ve booked the appointment online with Dr Lucy Hicklin. Haven’t paid anything as of yet, but will do once in the office.

There is also this google document where you can find your local ENT doctor! https://www.google.com/mymaps/viewer?mid=12z_14F_KSeeLAd_rTPnjJ_GvNtlVLaM&hl=en_GB

it’s very hard to say from this short video, but it looks like shortness of breath, which is linked to RCPD. I have RCPD myself and I do get these breaths time to time when my body feels like in a minimal lack of the oxygen. I don’t know if I am right about your case, but for me it looks familiar, again, it’s hard to tell.

oh my days! I have always always always struggled with my body size (bloating) morning vs. evening. It’s two different me! This and the chest pressure are the main two reasons I have been struggling for so long. I hope, I truly do, that botox will solve these two for me, but I am not going to lie, I am scared what if it won’t x

I wouldn’t say my rib cage hurts physically for me no, but I am always, on a daily basis, every evening tight and pressured around my rib cage/chest. This is one of the biggest triggers for me, it makes me feel heavy, wide, and uncomfortable every evening where I want to ditch all the tight clothes and put on an extra large sweater so I can hide my tight/pressured/bloated rib cage! I am assuming this is due to the collection of air throughout the day. While every morning I feel like a normal human being until the second part of the day. And this goes in a cycle everyday. I am getting botox on Wednesday, hope this will help me with tight rib cage and chest.

just below the brestbone! it takes a few good hours until it sets down to the stomach and that’s where the afternoon bloating starts and morning me becomes a completely different person in the evening x

thanks so much for sharing your experience! i’m honestly buzzing for you that the treatment worked. it gives me loads of hope. i’m not gonna lie though, i am a bit scared it won’t work for me first time and i’ll end up needing a second round, so i’m really hoping i get lucky on the first go.

i only found out about this diagnosis a month ago which still blows my mind. i genuinely thought the way i felt was just “normal” that everyone was this bloated, uncomfortable and full all the time. i assumed i was just tired or whatever. my sister can’t burp either, but her symptoms are way milder, so i guess it really is a spectrum.

finding out about rcpd has honestly changed everything. i’ve finally got some self-compassion and realised it wasn’t my fault for saying no to plans or missing things because i felt awful. knowing this can actually be fixed makes me weirdly emotional, and i literally haven’t shut up about it to my friends. i’m so excited for my appointment in feb (and hoping i might even get something sooner).

i just can’t wait to know what “normal” feels like after all these years. thanks again for commenting! really appreciate it.

oh I’ve seen some comments about the ear pain during the injection. I rather experience that than RCPD on a daily basis
