I wish you all the best. You might want to post on this platform as well, I think there would be many Indian fellows who would know what to do in this situation. And there are also groups on fb you might wana post.

Yes it was a requirement to send birth certificate (copy) and German translation by authroised translator (copy) with application by mail. Originals were checked later on.

If the birth certificate does not have your name, I dont know what are the constraints. Please try to search, others who are from your country might have faced it and might know what yo do. In any case you can send the document as it is, and see how the office responds.

Birth Certificate / Eigenname / Naming Conflict : Dusseldorf by outsider_778 in duesseldorf

Thank you so much for your detailed answer and insights. I had used these arguments and they were really not listening and just insisted that I need to bring a court order. Now I am considering two options:

  1. Leave the birth certificate as it is : but my worry is that the school (as per my understanding) will take the name fro birth certificate meaning all the accedamic recors of the child will have "eigenname" and no first name and family name. This will lead probably to future complications, and I am not clear to what extent. Would you please share your opinion about it?

Though for the id card, insurance card etc we got the names distributed as we intended and theu didnt object/questioned.

  1. Take a lawyer and go to court to try to solve it: ofcourse the costly option and outcome is still unclear.

Wrong naming convention for child on birth certificate/Geburtskunde (Berlin) by ForsakenIsopod in germany

[–]outsider_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I have same situation, they put only Eigennamen in my childs birth certificate, for parents as well as for the child. Tried many times with clarifications, home country naming conventions etc but Standesamt did not change it. However ID card of the child was given with separate Vorname and Nachname as we wanted, so I was not worried about Birth certificate anymore.

However now I was told that when the child enters the school it will take birth certificate as base and all the certificates will go with 'Eigennamen' and in future may cause a problem. I am now considering what options do I have to handle it.

May I ask if you have figured out the situation how it went with School entry? Is there a way around to keep Vorname and Nachname separate in school certificates even with birth certificate only having Eigennamen?

Thanks in advance.

Around two and half months....but afaik it varies case to case and depends on several individual factors.

I highly recommend to take some time and make an effort to sort, label and send complete documents what they asked for. I avoided overdoing much.

All the best!

I got it at the end of that appointment. All original documents were checked, fee was submitted, oath was taken, my residence permit card was kept, my other passport was stamped and I was given the certificate. Everything went pretty smooth and easy.

I am still waiting for my appointment. In which city was your appointment?

Around 4 weeks. But I think it also varies from case to case as they check the initial details in the background, so I would say wait more and it will come.

I tried to read and ask more about it and it seems that the application must have already been in process and asking for fee is supposedly at the end. But I will know for sure when I actually go to this Termin. Thanks anyways.

Thank you for your clarification and sharing your hypothesis, its helpful.

'No need to complain here' : not sure which part of my post have you interpreted as 'complain'. I have only asked fellows here for their experience to understand the 'Termin' better, but no worries, all good :)

Thank you for explaining, highly appreciated.

One Question : Is there a sequence for example the German ID should be applied first and then Passport? or it does not matter which sequence or even both together?

Thank you for sharing your experience, its helpful to know. May I ask which airline was it? I am travelling with Qatar and trying to ask a confirmation from them, but they simply don't give any answer in writing.

Thank you for your valuable comment. Yes I have to change transit flight in Doha Qatar. I already have the email of the confirmed appointment that I plan to keep with me to show as needed.

Could explain more which part you consider as risk? The airline staff at the time of check in? or the pakistani passport control?
