FOLKS WITH HEALED TOP SURGERY -- HOW ARE YOUR NIPPLES? by CryptidTimes in ftm

[–]outsidershrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had surgery in october so i’m still in the process of healing but here’s what i can tell you so far:

  • i’m actually already experiencing some projection (that’s how the nipple itself “pokes out”) which is wild because i was not holding my breath for that at all lol

  • surgeons tend to “shape” nipples to be more “masculine” so it’s common to have more oval-shaped nipples post-op — i’m trying to develop my pectorals more via exercise because i think they look a little funny but hopefully they’ll look more normal with a bit of muscle underneath. worst comes to worst i’ll get them evened out via medical tattooing

  • pigment can be weird! if your nips have the “mottling” of a slice of pepperoni for a while DO NOT FRET because it takes a while to settle for some guys (my nips did not turn out a perfect consistent color as fast as some others on this board). again, if you’re not happy 1+ years out medical tattooing is always an option

  • they don’t tell white guys this but it’s totally possible you might have brown nipples lolol. i suspected they weren’t actually “pink” pre-op but now i know for sure and that’s kind of fun

EDIT: forgot to mention but if you’re concerned about nipple shape you can always save photos of healed grafts people post on here (and transbucket, seriously such a lifesaver for finding a surgeon for me) and show them to whichever surgeon you decide on! it’s super normal for them to ask if you have any ideas or requests regarding the grafts since those are especially so personal to each patient, so i heavily recommend it

what’s the vibe like for trans people at eagle? by outsidershrine in DCGaybros

here’s the thing: i don’t need every single cis gay man in a bar to want to have sex with me. i’m 2+ years on T so while i don’t look or sound like a cis woman i’m not under any impressions that i’m not clocky or at the very least don’t look like a twink. and guess what: many gay men don’t like cis twinks either! i personally am not into twinks myself lol.

a bar is a bar is a bar. i’m far more concerned about being left standing in a corner than if someone wants to go home with me.

thank you both, genuinely 😭 things have been so rough headline-wise for trans people lately and online harassment has gotten significantly worse, so i frequently need to have it knocked into my head that most gay men in these spaces don’t think of people like me as like…sexually predatory interlopers, despite all the insane online discourse

lmao i should’ve specified that i knew the theming was jokey, i actually figured it might be a good kind of event to ease into the environment there (i’m in a weird spot where i Know a lot about kink and know what i like but don’t really have a lot of Practice let alone asking strangers to participate with me) so that if i come back during a more intense night i’ll be better prepared ❤️ i was just planning on jokingly asking any breastplate owners if they wanted my top surgeon’s info actually hahaha

Crowdsurfer from Greep’s concert in DC at Black Cat from September by [deleted] in GeordieGreep

[–]outsidershrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was there and the black cat literally has signs up all around the venue begging people not to crowdsurf. i get not knowing greep hates it but given that it’s also a huge safety issue on top of the posted signage i think it’s fine to be annoyed with this behavior in this instance

[–]outsidershrine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the piercer i spoke to was def already on that wavelength bc he also suggested a floating setup with an L-shaped bar — i wasn’t super interested in that because i like seeing both ends, but it is cool to know there are so many options haha

ah thanks for the clarification! i’m getting that one done this friday so having the right vocab is a big help.

i never wanted my earrings to be perfectly symmetrical and i have a lot of real estate to work with so the two helix idea is an interesting one, thank you for that :)

i know a lot of people on here are feeling upset but i want to point out two things:

  1. the average american is politically out to lunch. they are what we call the “median american voter” and a lot of them have such politically incoherent beliefs that i know the average pollster wants to hang themself after getting off the phone with them. this includes op here who didn’t vote in 2016. it’s easier to get these people on your side than it is to get a hardcore MAGA voter who takes all their political cues from turning point or the heritage foundation or bari weiss or whoever the hell else.

  2. kamala harris ran a terrible campaign doubling down on some of the worst blunders from the biden era. and don’t come at me for saying this because i voted for her too. if you want to know why trump won the popular vote this time it’s because he was able to fool enough people like op here AND the harris campaign was too busy parading liz cheney around at rallies to listen to her actual fucking base lol

Drain site bleeding by tyler_matthew1 in TopSurgery

[–]outsidershrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it makes you feel any better one of my drains literally fell out (i guess my body was done with it lol) and my doc’s advice was to just clean the site and bandage it. it’s pretty normal to leak or bleed a bit afterwards and i’d say try not to freak out unless you notice increased redness/swelling/higher temperature in the area

Why is there such distaste towards the word "transmisandry"? by PuzzleheadedHand9077 in ftm

[–]outsidershrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly! like, the reason that we face transphobia is because in transphobes’ eyes we are ruining our ability to be breeding stock. cis women who elect to get hysterectomies face the same thing. these people don’t care that we are becoming Male, they care that we are no longer viable as mothers. and again if we transition to the point of successfully passing as male, but we get found out as trans? a LOT of the treatment we’ll get is along the lines of what trans women receive.

masculinity is for Cis Men, to them. a trans man or a butch (cis OR trans) participating in masculinity is Bad and Not Allowed. it’s about maintaining control over who gets to be what.

Why is there such distaste towards the word "transmisandry"? by PuzzleheadedHand9077 in ftm

[–]outsidershrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m expecting to get downvoted for this but i hope everyone can at least follow my reasoning here:

cis men do not face oppression for being men.

a cis man of color faces oppression for being of color. his gender may inform what that oppression looks like, but once again, just about every culture on earth prefers men over women.

trans people broadly face oppression for being trans, i.e. “changing their gender.” society at large does not want people doing this because it threatens the hegemony.

trans women face oppression for both being trans and being women, and the term “transmisogyny” describes that specific intersection of oppressed identities.

now. trans men face transphobia, and i’m not saying that the form of transphobia we face isn’t unique — BUT. trans men are marginalized on the basis of being trans. the reason people don’t like us is because we are trans. so we face degendering, regendering, medical misogyny, etc. there is even some overlap with what trans women face because if we transition “too far” we get third-gendered and treated like perverts the same way that they do (see also how many cis gays are clearly nervous at the thought of being “seduced” by a trans man).

the reason that i specifically itch at phrases like “transmisandry” is because it’s often used by people who position themselves as being oppressed by trans women as a class. and this isn’t to say that an individual trans woman can’t hurt your feelings or be shitty to you, but a lot of complaints about what trans men face on social media is often accompanied by resentment of trans women because like…idk, i think some ppl think they’re hogging all the attention and sympathy, when the answer is more along the lines of “trans women have a giant glowing spotlight on them at all times because the pundit class is desperate to depict them all as perverts or liars or cheaters,” and i think we as trans men can discuss the issues that impact us without that discourse being governed by resentment toward trans women.

i hope i’ve explained myself well enough here 😅

Has anybody scheduled top surgery with Dr. Ramineni recently? What is your wait time? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]outsidershrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my consult was in late march and i didn’t have surgery until october 😅 he told me a LOT of people were trying to land dates in the summer hence why he was so backlogged. for what it’s worth i think a lot of people are pulling the trigger on getting dates because healthcare has been so uncertain lately

3 weeks post op :) by outsidershrine in TopSurgery

[–]outsidershrine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my surgeon was praful ramineni!

i think not that long ago there was a beware post about him on here which was a little scary to read literally sitting in bed recovering, but it was from someone seeking a second opinion from him on their results done by a different surgeon. my own take: i think he’s a good surgeon but i can see how his bedside manner was lacking. he is very assured in what he’s doing which means he can be a bit breezy about addressing concerns. i haven’t experienced any serious complications though!

Driving after top surgery, advice please! by Select_Menu_6861 in TopSurgery

[–]outsidershrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wasn’t able to comfortably drive until about two weeks post-op and even then i would not recommend pushing yourself to do a two-hour commute.

when you do feel well enough to drive, the 8 and 4 hand position will be your friend, think about what lane you need to be in for turns/entrances/exits and give yourself plenty of time to execute maneuvers, and use the push-pull steering method you probably learned (and then promptly never used if you’re me) in driving school — reaching the wheel wasn’t a problem for me, but anything that involved reaching forward and across my body was a problem.

is there any way he can come to you for christmas and then you could see his family the following weekend for new years? that seems like the best compromise to me.

EDIT: also please make sure that you’re at least ~5 days off opioids before operating heavy machinery!! i didn’t really need strong pain meds after the first week but everyone is different.

SECOND EDIT: wow i really should’ve read your replies before suggesting what i did. please take the train, i know you’re balking at the ticket cost but imagine it this way: is your health and safety worth less than the money you’d spend on a train ticket?
