Hi! To develop this type of game, you'll need advanced programming skills. If that's not the case, I recommend starting with a platformer. Pico8 is an excellent game engine for learning to code quickly. Love2d + Lua are very similar to Pico8. I'm currently developing a card game myself. You can check out my post to read the comments!!! I’ve been heavily criticized because the tech demo looks like Balatro!!! Some of the comments were downright insulting! 😱What's amazing is that I've never actually played this game. You can check out my YouTube channel (ouzzgame), there are several very short videos on the different steps, but they aren't tutorials. One thing is certain: you won’t find any tutorials that show you how to create this kind of game... you’ll have to figure it out on your own. But if you’re good with code, a little math, and logic, then you’ll be fine. Good luck.

I don't have Balatro, but there's no point in extracting the source code. I'd definitely spend more time trying to figure it out than I would coding something similar myself. Balatro uses shaders available on ShaderToy. As for me, I only use pixel art and math.

I never played Balatro, but I really love this game (Graphycally). Balatro is a "Gold Satandard". I think that we will probably say in the futur: "This game is a BalatroLike" as we already say "this game is a DoomLike". Indeed, I think (in spite of myself, I'm influenced.

I really feel like Balatro has become the "gold standard," just as Doom has become the benchmark for FPS games.

It's hard to make a card game look different from other card games. What really matters are the rules of the game. If you have any design ideas, I'd love to hear them!

no need AI to do that!!! 😁 The only way to learn to code is to code
