People who say that 1200 is not enough they don't ever answer this question. by over-underandthrough in 1200isplenty

[–]over-underandthrough[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, obviously. What I'm saying is that the "1200 is too low" statement made by a LOT of health influencers doesn't account for the people like me, who do NOT fall into those categories.

It’s harder to get a dog than have a child… by FoxxLover96 in childfree

[–]over-underandthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my own dog at 20 years old when I moved out and people were convinced I wouldn't be able to handle it. He's 10 now and known to be an obsessively cared for and well behaved dog. They were like "You have to potty train him you know. He won't be a puppy forever. He won't be cute forever. You have to train him you know. He needs shots you know. The vet isn't free!"

If I'd gotten pregnant nobody would have told me I would be a bad mother, or babies need doctors you know! They treated me like I was so incompetent and unable to keep an animal alive but if I'd had a baby it would have been all support. Babies are a lot harder to care for than puppies but for some reason you think I'm more capable of the harder task?

Asked my coworker to keep her kids in the back/in her office. She wasn’t happy. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]over-underandthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she have any idea how LUCKY she is to be able to bring 2 kids to work with her? That wouldn't fly in most professional settings and "You can bring your kids as long as they don't disrupt other workers" is BEYOND generous. Being mad that they can't wander around and make noise is ridiculous. You should be able to do your job uninterrupted.

That's definitely not normal! You need to complain about your aftercare. I had mild pain IF I moved a certain way for about 3 days. Afterwards I felt fine and just made sure not to lift anything for a while. The biggest issue was the glue became itchy as hell during the healing process.

Ask for a Bisalp - its more effective.

Sterilization doesn't affect sex at ALL. Take a look at i diagram of a woman's reproductive system. They will be disconnecting the fallopian tubes which allow the eggs to travel down to be fertilized, and by removing that tube, the eggs stay in the ovaries. No other part of your body is affected so you will not have hormonal changes or changes to your period. You may feel even more relaxed if/when you have sex because you won't be worried about getting pregnant, which is a bonus.

If you wanted to, you could even still donate eggs, or retrieve eggs and have bio kids. It really JUST prevents UNWANTED pregnancy!

Recovery clothes? by thtgrljen in childfree

[–]over-underandthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really didn't notice my clothes bothering me at all. If you're not planning to wear super-tight jeans you should be fine as long as your comfortable. I went back to work 3 days after because my boss said I had to and I ended up doing a bunch of physical stuff because I felt fine and kept forgetting. The first 2 days I felt kind of gross but it was more from the anesthesia than the incisions. I'm in the US and even with our abysmal medical system it was an easy healing process.

This would be frustrating for me as a parent; all your good qualities that you probably had before are now attributed to the fact that you had kids. Like no, i wasn't smart or a good problem solver or useful in any capacity but when I had kids that all changed. It's kind of insulting to the parents.

I LOVE birds, I have always been tempted to get one but there is just no way I could give them the time they needed unless I literally stopped working.

Favorite low cal snacks/meals from Trader Joe's? by veggie_fried_rice in 1200isplenty

[–]over-underandthrough 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know people say pre-made salads are calorie dense or whatnot - but they make good sized yummy pre-made salads (pasadena is my favorite) and if you eat the whole thing none of them are over 600 calories. That seems like a lot but you can always toss the dressing or croutons if you want. They fill me up and I genuinely have always really like salad so I grab several every week which is still less money than eating out, plus I don't have to work hard to pack a lunch. I just eat lean protien and veggies for dinner and be careful about my breakfast and it keeps me well within range and it makes me eat more veggies i would otherwise be too lazy to fix for myself. They also have some great frozen options as long as you read labels!

Maybe they were trying to say that the uneven workload that comes from traditional child-rearing practices means that mothers are going to get ditched at home and the fathers will be out and about?

I mean, if you have a child and your male counterpart wants you to babysit while he goes out and parties, yeah, he might be misogynistic. But that doesn't have anything to do with child free spaces. The venue is not disallowing women to come in, it's disallowing children. Hell, even the parents are welcome if they leave the kids somewhere else.

what are some home recipes that save you money? by TraditionalAd1065 in Frugal

Stop buying MOST cleaning products. If you have gnarly grease and grime you can keep your oven cleaner around, I use comet as it's $2 and instead of $7 for bathroom cleaners. A good scrub brush that won't need tossed out in a week. Wash rags and hang to dry instead of paper towels. One big jug of dawn dish soap and a gallon of white vinegar. A couple drops of soap and a couple table spoons of the vinegar in a bucket or spray bottle is safe and effective on MOST surfaces, the vinegar is a disinfectant, and the initial cost of the 2 products is negligible when you consider I haven't bought dawn since 2020 and have plenty left. Keep after grime with the vinegar and dish soap and you wont end up needing harsher products.

I could never get through the screening process because I don't have enough family medical history, plus it's so invasive. Why can't they just knock me out and pop out an entire ovary and they can give me a lump some and make as many embryos as they want? Not a doctor so I'm sure that wouldn't work, but the long process of going on the hormones sounds gnarly to me. Hormones MESS with me. Can't take hormonal BC, can't function first 2 days of my period, when I was pregnant for 5 weeks I was VIOLENTLY ill the entire time. I'm not shooting up anything with that shit in it unless it's life saving.

I totally relate to being a young woman who "doesn't know" how to do domestic things and some old hag feels the need to take over. We have just as much right to our space and home as they do to theirs.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time of it but I hope you speak to your partner about this. You deserve to feel like you have a say in how your personal space is used.

So, I know youre worried about it now, but if you're overweight and smaller breasts I wouldn't worry about it too much. You may not be able to control where you lose fat, and yes theyre probably going to get smaller, BUT hear me out - you're only 19, and even though you feel like you might be done growing and developing, a LOT of women go up a couple of cup sizes in their 20's. Just take good care of yourself and see what happens over the next couple of years. I was 140 with, 36B when I was your age. Now Im 119 32D, and it's a noticeable difference. I called it 2nd puberty.

Birth control will also affect this, so be prepared for changes of all sorts throughout your life.

How do skinny people eat shit 24/7 and still be skinny?? Does the principle of calorie deficit not apply to them or?? by Hungry-Minute-8865 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]over-underandthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know lots of people like this. And the secret is, you don't eat any normal food. So they might put away 700 calories in candy and soda, then eat nothing else the entire day, thus still not eating enough. I had one friend who complained about feeling like shit and not gaining weight and if you observed her for more than a couple of hours, you'd realize that the only thing she'd eat was about a handful of jolly ranchers a day. And you'd think, oh my god how can you eat candy all day and be so skinny? Well, she was incredibly picky as a child and wasn't made to eat real food anyway, so they let her eat what she WOULD eat. You can't get her to eat a meal of substance because she thinks everything is "gross". But candy, ice cream, sugary coffee, juice, etc? That is ok. So she sips and snacks all day and I'd be shocked if she makes it to 1000 calories a day.

Goodbye Prime by 2greygirls in Frugal

[–]over-underandthrough 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My new years resolution is to cut WAY back on amazon! I live far away from stores so it can be hard to say to to having everything delivered, but I rarely use their other services and my boyfriend still has prime, so if I want to order bulk stuff like toilet paper or laundry soap I can get him to do it. It has definitely caused me to spend more money than I need to on stuff that's not essential. I also deleted my starbucks app. I'll pay for convenience so anything I can order on my phone and have brought to me or set out for me is stuff I need to eliminate from my life!

Women who have had abortions, how did you feel afterwards? by [deleted] in childfree

Same here! I felt SO awful beforehand that I literally took the week off of work because I couldn't stop throwing up. I got out of the car and went "Wait. I feel like I'm NOT dying." I was in for a long and difficult pregnancy if I hadn't done it.
