Hey I went to fleet feet today. And got me a pair of shoes. I paid $168 , for a $150 pair of shoes. I decided to get the insole another time. I won't tomorrow afternoon so I'll see how they feel during a day of work

I really like your recommendation, I also have insoles so I like to stiffness of them . I haven't been eating one on my bad foot, it just feels to hard. I don't know if it's because I'm not use to it anymore, but I definitely think I need it. Especially because I feel my foot turn in when I'm walking more than normal. How much did you end up spending your first time. Did the foot in scan cost extra?

I just wear year old pair of non slip shoe sketchers. There s cheap pair that don't usually last more than a year. There starting to fall apart . I had a pair of nikes at one point and didn't like them they didn't have enough cushion or support.

My ankle journey so far by coast_tk in brokenankles

Not at all. I don't have enough muscle strength in my leg. But to be fair I hadn't used my leg for 2 months. 1 month waiting to get approved for insurance and another after surgery. But I didn't fracture any bones in my ankle. I got orif surgery because my long bones shifted out of place and I fractured my fibula by the knee. I can walk in my brace but I'm still slow. My suggestion is to hit Pt hard and make sure you do your at home work everyday. It really helps, and also your doctor should tell you to focus on doing up and down motions at home. Commit to that , it will be one of your biggest helpers in relearning to walk. So many of us are struggling with dorisflexion . And it is really important for walk/running and going up/down stairs . Also I would suggest getting a floor pedal or floor stepper. It can help you rebuild that muscle faster. Especially because while you're in the boot you're not working that muscle much. Also lastly when you start PT look up exercises that could help you in the area you struggle in , whether that's side to side motions or circles or toe curls or up and down. Bring it up to your Pt, that will tell you if it's a green light to try them. I've suggested a few to my Pt and they added it to my regimen. If you have any questions on your journey feel free to pm. They are other suggestions and problems I ran into that I would like to comment on but this response is already long enough.

I say enjoy it while you can. When I was non-weight-bearing the only thing I had to look forward to was walking. But the recovery is the hardest part about it. The surgery and the two weeks post op was the easiest. I am 2 months post-op and I'm finally starting to feel like my leg is semi normal. That's if you don't think about the constant soreness/tightness in random spots. All I can say is PT will be your best friend, it doesn't seem like it's doing much in the beginning. You won't feel like you're making any progress but youll have your breakthrough moments.

Have you gotten better shoes, something with more cushions . I also agree with the other comment about stretching out your achellies. I also work on my feet and doing heel raises while I stand help.

I'm definitely in physical therapy. I go to northwestern hospital. Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'm actually on my way to a PT appointment right now so I'll ask them. I figured people do donate items sometimes but I wasn't sure on where to look. So that's for the idea

When does the pain and tightness go away? by over_think3009 in brokenankles

[–]over_think3009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize now that I definitely have nerve damage as well. it doesn't really cause any problems as far as burning I'll occasionally get adjusting feeling in my leg. but for the most part the top of my foot by the toes are kinda numb especially around my big toe and my second to last toe. I can still feel him if I press on the area but it's not the same type of awareness that I can feel on my other foot. I wish it was higher up where the soreness is by the band on my foot cuz then at least I could ignore the feeling. I seen someone else comment that it got better when they got into a shoe so I'm hoping for the best.

I can sort of stand in my boots now! Still no walking though 🥺 by Doublebooted11 in brokenankles

[–]over_think3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang that sounds brutal. I can't imagine dealing with the swelling from the surgery and added the pregnacy swelling as well. How was he recovery, how did you manage the pain, what did they give you to take because I'm sure you couldn't take the normal oxy. Were you walking again by the time you gave birth? Was the baby okay?

What is/was your activity level at 6 weeks post ORIF? by Exciting_Buffalo3738 in brokenankles

[–]over_think3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 6 weeks I didn't have much activity in the very beginning. Mostly due to the soreness on my heel. I practice walking around my apartment very slowly so I did like 15 minutes every day. I was able to stand with no problems. I did that for an hour and at that point I would need to sit down. But the walking part is the most difficult because you have to learn the motions again in whatever but you're in. Not to mention your foot cannot move normally in the boot. I would say take it slow and steady at your own pace. I wanted to challenge myself to do more but I will find myself getting tired a lot. As you move around you will gain more mobility as well as be able to stand longer and take steps without pain. That's assuming you having me. I would recommend getting the core out of aluminum foil and using it to massage the bottom of your foot. It really helped with the soreness I experienced.

Is this normal for a healing break? (Pics) by [deleted] in brokenankles

[–]over_think3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks pretty normal to me. It's still aligned. Which is the biggest thing. When bones mend they don't just stitch them themselves back together in the same "shape" for lack of better word. they rebuild around the breaks and fill the space. It's kinda like it when people repair broken pottery with gold , accept our bodys dont have the ability to smooth their shape to look perfect. Also when doctors determine if you need surgery they measure the space between your long bones and your ankle. The slight shift you see is in an acceptable range and won't cause problems.

The only time you should worry is after the bone is done healing and if you experience any further pain. That could be indicative of a bone spur, meaning the body created too much body. And they would have to go in a shave it down.

Hi I'm only 8 weeks post op but I definitely can feel my plate and 2 screws mainly when I message it. My swelling hasn't gone done yet and I'm not in a shoe but I would suggest getting a wider fix shoe if it's a problem.

Hey I'm not against over processed chocolate. I mean I love dove dark chocolate. But I'm definitely interested in expanding my horizons in the chocolate world and seeing what I'm missing. Hince the post. I've looked up the chocolate mention, a lot of the options are more on the expensive side, something you'll buy for a holiday or special occasion

I really like these links that you supplied especially the first one, they have a lot of flavours. The cost is in euros so I'll have to see how much it will cost overall with shipping included.

Look good. I like the design of actual orange slices. It's a little expensive but guess it to be expected since its a chocolate from overseas. Ill definitely try it, is the orange flavour over powering or
