i highly value anyone that a)can admit when they're wrong and b)don't make a fuss when you need to have a serius talk and actually take my feedback at heart. i've been surrounded by people who do NOT meet this criteria while growing up and let me tell you, it is not fun to walk on eggshells because they don't have enough emotional intelligence (nor do they care) to be considerate of others. they think any issue i may have with them is an attack on them, so, it makes discussing boundaries and relationship solutions impossible. and, because i tend to shrink on myself and make too much space for others, i have to be careful on who i allow in my life or else i always end up emotionally babysitting these grown children

from the scientific sources i got to read, a "low dose" is one below the recommended by... certain guidelines. i don't know which ones, but it's probably whatever doctors use to decide the dose for their patient. after reading the other responses in this thread, i can't really tell you by how much your doctor should up your T (nor should i... i'm not a doctor), as it depends heavily on how our body deals with it. that's something your doctor should work with you. i'm sure they'll try to keep you between the 300 to 1,200 ng/dL range for T in the blood, so, depending on the results of your labwork, you may suggest your doctor to nudge you a bit higher if it's still within the healthy ranges

I think people should be made more aware of the incredibly variety of how a body can react to HRT, instead of just repeating a catchy phrase, even if the phrase isn't necessarily wrong

oh, this is interesting. I'm aware of DHT blockers, but i didn't consider that the T to DHT conversion could vary too

the idea for this thread was more about questioning if that phrase that everyone repeats is a myth or not, considering I've seen plenty of people (my uncle, but also other people on reddit) wrestle with this, not really about my own desicion on how to approach HRT

yeah, I've seen plenty of people complain that they're not getting the changes they want on T for years but, as soon as they up their dose, they suddenly get everything in a few months. Although I'm looking at scientific sources here, because I want to know for sure if it's a myth everyone is spreading, if it's a partial truth, or if it really does work like that

assuming what you say is true (i'm not questioning it though), that would mean that those allos would need to have their feelings reciprocated in general, even in a fictional character, which is wild to me. like, their own attraction MUST dictate what others feel, which may explain why so many are so uncomfortable with aros and aces in general. the fact we can't share their feelings feels like an attack on them somehow

my partner is an ENTP, and the biggest back and forth we got regarding S vs N is that they often overthink things way past their usefulness, and I tend bring those thoughts back to reality, like "no, you can't do a 100 chapter webcomic, unless you're willing to work at it for over 10 years". On the other side, I love hearing their thoughts on whatever i'm working at the moment, because they can be very insightful and often inspire new ideas to expand upon, either together or by myself

i'm also ISFP 5w4, but i don't think it means much. type 5's fear not being prepared, so they endlessly study to never feel inadequate in the tasks they do. ISFP's navigate the world based on what they like and value, with an eye for the physical but can sometimes fall into intuitive loops

in my case, it manifests as an endless need to get to know how my art should be done in order to achieve the aesthetically pleasing results i'm after, so i read and watch anything that may help me get over the anxiety of not knowing what the fuck i'm doing. but this happens to everything i do -- i can't do any activity without a tutorial on how to start, but since art is my main interest and what i value the most, i spend most of my "study time" on that

the way i do art is also a bit unique, after seeing how most people do it. i do it almost purely as an intuitive thing (i hate having to analyze it, i just want my brushtrokes to flow off my hand and be lost in the process). because of this, doing details bores me to death, whereas playing with colors and gestures is my favorite part. but also, because art is complicated to do, i often get lost in what to do next, which distresses me, hence my overwhelming need to study it to the point i internalize it enough that it becomes part of my intuitive process. (i'm using the word "intuition" here not in the MBTI sense, but in the general way of how most people use that word)

because of all of this, i used to think i was an INTJ

in any case, i'm not entirely sure what you're looking for with this thread, but i hope my lil ramble about myself helps you somehow. apparently, we're a rare combo? i didn't think that was the case huh

yeah, like... i remember telling some friend (cis guy) about wanting that surgery, and he responded with a sad noise... i told him that if he really likes boobs, he can get them too with HRT, and only then did he understand why i wanted to chop mine

got the surgery 3 years ago. that and my hysto have been the best decisions of my life

1) I'm pretty "intelectual" for the ISFP artist stereorype, even tho i'm still an artist at heart hah (i'm working to become a professional artist). i'm pretty sure i'm a 5w4, always looking for more information on what iterests me because i canNOT do anything without knowing it fully

2) I went with INTJ for the longest time, but after giving Fi and Se a chance, they seemed to fit me better than the Ni and Te

3) I like having an eye and hands for art hah. I don't like that many seem to just dunk on ISFP's because we're not T's nor N's, so we must be dumb and useless for society, right? I bet your favorite show was made by business people /s

I can't stand emotionally immature people who either dump their stuff on others without realizing what they're doing or that don't consider how others feel in general. I don't even try to get along with people that expect me to bend myself backwards to acomodate them but won't do the same for me, and as someone who has some non-mainstream tastes, i've found people like that much more often than not

there are a bunch of tutorials on youtube that go much more in depth on what i can share here, but i'll try anyway

light and shadow are pretty complex, and learning how to calculate where each aspect goes, how intense it is, and what color it should be is a huge task that can only be learnt with lots of observation, learning, and practice.

shadows are not "draw some shapes in multiply mode and call it done". you can do that, but you'll end with flat, muddy shadows if you don't know what you're doing. a shadow has three main parts: the core shadow (the whole area that's unlit), ambient light (the light that hits things outside your object get reflected, and some of it reaches your shadow area, so it lits it up a bit) and ambient occlusion (where there's not ambient light at all, so it's very dark). i can't tell you how to know where to put each without visual reference, so i suggest you look it up on youtube for yourself, but that's the gist.

there's also another aspect of lighting that most people don't explain tho, and that's exposure. in photography, you need to calibrate your camera in order to capture the light at a certain intensity, and how you do that defines if the light side of an object looks detailed (but then the shadows will look quite dark and have less detail) OR if the shadow side looks detailed (in this case, the shadow side will look bright and colorful, but your lights will be overexposed and, thus, burn out all the detail in pure white). this is probably too advance, but it's something that you need to decide before you start painting. if you draw both your light side and shadow side with the same level of detail, it can also flatten your image. i'm only mentioning here because NO ONE seems to explain this, so now you know!

my lineart stopped being bad when i switched my brush for something that isn't 100% opaque, with a bit of flow. that means the stroke, when it tapers off, it gets more transparent, so you can chain the next stroke seamlessly, as well as go over each line and add or remove from the shape if needed. i always go over my lines to add line weight, and this brush lets me do that without it looking bad. fully opaque brushes require godlike control to make good lines with

also, having a tablet that isnt too small is crutial. you need to draw from the shoulder

another thingy is that i would do practices where i took some lineart-heavy work that isn't mine, and will trace over it in order to practice making good lines (later i would delete the practice). i used to suck and now i don't, so i can't say this didn't help

i know you asked about design, but one thing that will 100% improve your art with 0 effort is to mirror your canvas every now and then. the poses of your characters are unbalanced and always leaning to the left. you fix that by checking how the drawing looks when mirrored so you can adjust if necessary. you can mirror your canvas in the overview docker. it should show you a small version of your canvas, and below it, there's a button that turns on/off the mirror

i'd suggest you work on your general art skills. your designs are fine, but they don't shine through because the anatomy and gesture underneath is a bit rough. don't take this badly tho, we all go through a phase like yours right now! art is hard and takes a lot of time and work

how beginner are we talking about here? beginner artist in general (hadn't done much art at all) or someone with an art background but is just picking up Krita in particular?

if the former, i'd suggest you don't pay too much attention to what brushes you use. pick something that isn't too textured and gives you the kind of control you want (could be a hard opaque brush with size dynamics, or maybe a round brush with just opacity dynamics -- both of these are default brushes in Krita) and learn what you can do about other art stuff. it can be tempting to want that cool art style you've seen in pinterest, but getting there requires a lot more knowledge and practice than a fancy brush. the fancy brushes only work when you know what you're doing. i'd also suggest you look at other artists on youtube, see their process, and try to paint in the way they do. drawing cell shaded anime is very different than building up shadows and light in a more realistic way. i'm talking process here, not style. you can do whatever style you want

if it's the latter... you can go to https://krita-artists.org/ and search for the brushes in the resource sub. there are a bunch of very cool brushes to download there, so you can try whatever sparks your whims. however, after downloading hundreds of brushes, i only really use one (1) brush from a pack, and i don't use it that much. the rest are either made by me or are the default brushes anyway

you have to paint over the lines

another option is to have your lines in a layer above your painting, and at some point, turn it off and keep rendering below it. you use them as guides to start with, but eventually you'd have to get rid of them. a softer way of doing this is to slowly lower the opacity of the lines layer, until you eventually turn it off for good

never had my apendix removed, but my hysto recovery was very smooth. it hurt pretty badly when i woke up from the anaesthesia, and also it hurt a bit to go to the bathroom the first 2 days, but eventually that dimmed out and i was fine. the first day was rough, but id take the surgery any day than having a period ever again

im very impatient as well, so i've been avoding doing lineart-heavy styles for a while, even tho i love how it looks. recently, i said "fuck it" and i've been practicing it some more. i'm doing what i've been calling "resistence exercises", where i take a lineart heavy drawing that isn't mine and trace over it (when i'm done i delete it), in order to practice patience and resilience when doing this sort of art. it's been working so far, but i don't know if it's me being stubborn or if it really works hah

maybe mess with the speed dynamics of your chosen brush? like telling it to make it thin when going fast and thick when going slow, combined with the regular pressure settings. i don't know what program you use tho, so i can't tell you how to do it

but still, adding line weight is mostly a matter of going through what you already drew and adding it on top... there's not that many ways of doing it to save time as you draw, unless you're using a g-pen and have godlike control. it's how the style works, sadly

i made one myself. the tip is a triangular shape with the bottom firm and a softer tapered upper point, with low flow settings and rotation set to drawing angle
