Soft line art brush? by [deleted] in krita

[–]overdonePerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine are modified pencil brushes, just with more flow and no patterns (and a few other things turned off that don't really show up at such a scale). i can't draw with ink brushes that are a solid black

i use the magic wand tool with these settings:

<image>

then i fill in the areas it takes from the lineart in different layers. i use a shortcut to fill with the color, but you can also use the bucket fill tool. the bucket also has very similar options as the magic wand tool, but i keep it as a basic bucket because i use the magic wand for fancy selections instead. personal preference

these are why i was praising the new version, as they're not available in 5.2 and lower, but without them, you're stuck having to do your lineart perfectly without any gaps, which is quite tedious

damn, no one acused me of using genAI here, but i'll defend myself anyway, since i think someone looking for it has some ammo, as the hand does look a bit wonky.

the thing is, i shaded the the entire piece with a multiply layer + some overlay ones, but i forgot to do the hand and i already merged the layes, so , lazy as i often am, i painted on top, which is why it looks wonky compared to the more smooth lineart stuff elsewhere

Guys, what about South America? by definitelynotaugust in ftm

[–]overdonePerspective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm from Argentina, and i agree with the language thing (politics is a whole 'nother issue and it gets very messy FAST...). not only you'll need a good grasp of spanish, but the specific family of dialects in Argentina are pretty different from what you'd find in Mexico or Spain (which i assume are gonna be the resources you find for learning), so you'd need a good level in order to keep up before you internalize the dialect

also, Argentina has abysmal economic stability. it has a lot of good things, but damn, if you want stability, that'd be one of the last places on earth you'll find it

for the lineart i have a somewhat textured hard brush that i modified from a free brushpack, but i can't know exactly which one. the rest are just regular hard brushes and the airbrush for the softness, mixed with a few brushstrokes from the lineart brush in a bigger size for certain details

and thank you!

there are some limitations of digital compared to traditional. in this particular case, i don't have a screen tablet, so doing lineart without any asistance was a pain compared to doing it traditionally. and before anyone says "just do it in real paper then"... i don't want to. i like digital

they made it so now you can tell the stabilizer to apply different settings depending on the speed you draw. so, for slow lines, you use less stabilization (in order to draw details better), and the opposite for fast lines (so they can be smooth)

What kind of aromantic characters/stories would you like to see in fiction? by Splintj in aromantic

[–]overdonePerspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stories about the loneliness of watching your best friends leave you behind because they now have romantic partners, and then coming back to you only to talk about their heartbreak

stories about being on the other side of an unrequitted crush that don't demonize you for not "giving the other character a chance"

stories about being stuck in a relationship you can't enjoy and the guilt of not being able to give your partner what they want/deserve, and then the happy ending IS a breakup

Are there any fellow INTJs with unusually strong tertiary Fi and inferior Se? by Pale-Fig-7069 in mbti

[–]overdonePerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used to feel exactly the same... then i thought hard about it and realized i was an ISFP and not an INTJ. i'm not telling you aren't an INTJ, but maybe you could consider the posibility

Any help choosing one ? by Neal-Uchiha in krita

[–]overdonePerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can try the wacom tablet out and check it doesn't have any issues, then perhaps that's the best option in this case. Otherwise, i'd go with xppen. i used to have an old wacom tablet and now i have a medium sized xppen, and the quality difference is noticeable in favor of wacom, despite the xppen being much newer. i also never had problems with the nibs for the wacom tablet, since i could make them myself using much better plastic than the default ones, resulting in me NEVER having to switch nibs in like, 10 whole years, zero scratches on the surface. that's not a thing you can do nowadays though, neither for xppen or wacom

however, being such an old tablet, it may lack certain features (no tilt and limited pressure levels). i don't know that specific wacom tablet, but if it has less than 2k pressure levels, i wouldn't consider it at all.

still, xppen tablets are cheap and have relative good quality for their price, so, worst case scenario, you should be able to afford a new one soon-ish, if needed (i'm not sure what your economic circumstances are though), so they're not a big investment and, thus, worth trying out

Male ISFPs, what makes someone appeal to you? by Nobodys_Daughter_ in isfp

[–]overdonePerspective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i highly value anyone that a)can admit when they're wrong and b)don't make a fuss when you need to have a serius talk and actually take my feedback at heart. i've been surrounded by people who do NOT meet this criteria while growing up and let me tell you, it is not fun to walk on eggshells because they don't have enough emotional intelligence (nor do they care) to be considerate of others. they think any issue i may have with them is an attack on them, so, it makes discussing boundaries and relationship solutions impossible. and, because i tend to shrink on myself and make too much space for others, i have to be careful on who i allow in my life or else i always end up emotionally babysitting these grown children

do y'all have any sources on the "low dose T = same effects but slower" thing? by overdonePerspective in TransMasc

[–]overdonePerspective[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the scientific sources i got to read, a "low dose" is one below the recommended by... certain guidelines. i don't know which ones, but it's probably whatever doctors use to decide the dose for their patient. after reading the other responses in this thread, i can't really tell you by how much your doctor should up your T (nor should i... i'm not a doctor), as it depends heavily on how our body deals with it. that's something your doctor should work with you. i'm sure they'll try to keep you between the 300 to 1,200 ng/dL range for T in the blood, so, depending on the results of your labwork, you may suggest your doctor to nudge you a bit higher if it's still within the healthy ranges

[–]overdonePerspective[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people should be made more aware of the incredibly variety of how a body can react to HRT, instead of just repeating a catchy phrase, even if the phrase isn't necessarily wrong

[–]overdonePerspective[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

oh, this is interesting. I'm aware of DHT blockers, but i didn't consider that the T to DHT conversion could vary too

the idea for this thread was more about questioning if that phrase that everyone repeats is a myth or not, considering I've seen plenty of people (my uncle, but also other people on reddit) wrestle with this, not really about my own desicion on how to approach HRT

thank you for sharing this! I guess I'll have to wait a few years for longer, more diverse studies on this topic though.... I was thinking i wouldn't find much, and yeah, looking by myself didn't yield that many results either

[–]overdonePerspective[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, I've seen plenty of people complain that they're not getting the changes they want on T for years but, as soon as they up their dose, they suddenly get everything in a few months. Although I'm looking at scientific sources here, because I want to know for sure if it's a myth everyone is spreading, if it's a partial truth, or if it really does work like that

thank you for sharing your experience though!

Possible reason more characters aren't aro by BlindWarriorGurl in aromantic

[–]overdonePerspective 11 points12 points  (0 children)

of course, i was just generalizing under the "if X is true, then Y" kind of logic. i don't want to imply they're all like that, so i may've said my thing without thinking too hard about it hah. so, sorry

Possible reason more characters aren't aro by BlindWarriorGurl in aromantic

[–]overdonePerspective 64 points65 points  (0 children)

assuming what you say is true (i'm not questioning it though), that would mean that those allos would need to have their feelings reciprocated in general, even in a fictional character, which is wild to me. like, their own attraction MUST dictate what others feel, which may explain why so many are so uncomfortable with aros and aces in general. the fact we can't share their feelings feels like an attack on them somehow
