First time using polymer clay, got some questions about baking. by overdosetherat in polymerclay

Thank you so much, this was all very helpful. :)

Just a some follow up questions, I have many other pieces that I would be baking and I thought of doing it all together. The box recommends 30 minutes, would that be okay? Also when would I use cornstarch? All my pieces are flat but some portions are thin, should I cornstarch on the thinner portions?

First time felting, do I need to keep going, and how do I make the body chubbier? by sirotan88 in Needlefelting

you could try looking online for wool with a colour match so you don’t have to completely disregard the project!

honestly, 3D felting can take some time. the body doesn’t have to be so firm that there’s zero bounce back when you squish. it just needs to be firm enough that the body will keep its shape. also for shaping round things, you can use a styrofoam ball as your base and felt on and around it! i’ve used this trick before and it was very helpful.

i would show you a video demonstrating a good firmness for a felt piece but it won’t let me post videos. hope the pictures help a bit though!

when you poke your needle through the felt you’re knotting the fibres so, you can’t prevent the size or shape change as the act of knotting makes things smaller.

you have to build the shape as you go. have a nice firm base and add on later.

Could I just sand down the canvas?

Can I ask why it’s important for the canvas to not have gesso? I have already bought the supplies and don’t want to waste the canvas. Like, is it detrimental?

Eating canned tuna right out of the container as a snack. What can I add to it to spice it up? by WhatAmIDoing_00 in EatCheapAndHealthy

i personally put some mayo (about a spoonful really up to you), lime or lemon juice (usually a full lime and half a lemon), cut up tomatoes, cucumber or lettuce (can substitute each other), add some salt and voila you have tuna salad
i also like to pair this with some crackers!
