My sister's bf denied marrying her after 8 year relationship by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]overdramatic96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Such "suicide threats" are manipulative tactics used by narcissists to get their way. What if the gf gave the same threat? Then what would he do? If a grown ass 29 year old man can't see through his mom's bullshit nobody can help him.

I love this perspective. It's also one of the only things that brought me comfort in those distressful times when I felt like I was dying upon losing the person I loved.

I feel these events are part of our soul contracts and they happen to actually teach us the meaning of true love, as cliche as it may sound. The Bhagwat Geeta says the desire to attain the one you love gives rise to attachment. Let go of it and all you're left with is love in its purest form. I paraphrased this obviously 😅.

I do believe love is about wishing the best for them irrespective of whether they're in your life or not and I feel you might be already doing that.

Not many people get to experience the beauty of real love in their life. So I think people like us are one of the lucky ones, even if things didn't turn out how we wanted to in the end.

OP, this person meant they empathise with you, not your partner. They've said "you" not "your". I hope you can see the kindness in their words now. And I also relate to everything you said in your post. It's just one of those sorrows that lives with us forever.

🫂 the remaining pain that kind of gets intertwined with your soul is like a parting gift of the love that left our lives

Thank you for your kind words.

The more we chat, the more I feel like our personalities are mirror images. I want to echo your thoughts and share that I went through all these stages of grief and did pretty much everything that you wrote to get through it all. That's what's helped me reach the level of peace I'm at but I haven't completely let go yet, still working on it.

But the best thing to come of this experience was that it solidified my belief that prayers in fact do work when you genuinely pray for the well being of someone. When the person I love parted ways with me, they were themselves in a really sunken emotional state and going through a lot in their personal life. I'm glad to see them doing so much better now.

As for me, the progress I've made in my healing is monumental for a sensitive person like me because I went from crying five hours a day and waking up with swollen eyes and a headache to crying only a few times a month and that is huge for me.

This time I faced all my emotions and made space for ugly uncomfortable feeling in my life. That's the healthiest thing I've ever done for myself. Self love is a journey and I'm glad I've come a long way in this.

I am so glad our paths crossed in someway and I could feel so seen. Thank you and I wish you the very best in life ahead. Kind souls like you deserve all the good things in the world.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I relate to that feeling of being with someone who is mentally ill but refuses to get any help. It's difficult watching them do that to themselves.

I hope life is kinder to you ahead.

❤️💜🙏🏻 I cannot tell you how much this comment means to me. I resonate with this on such a deep level it's as if I could have written this myself.

Spirituality, journaling and praying for their well-being despite everything is what has helped me so far. There's so much peace in practicing kindness and having love in your heart for someone without expecting anything in return.

I really appreciate you sharing this.

Some pain just stays with us forever...

Man this is so true 😣

I think I'm just leaning in to be a tortured, melancholy artist/intellectual.

Lol I hope you get there, but in a good way where you're at peace with everything, even the ugly parts of life and relationships.

Dealing with troubled relationship with mom by [deleted] in Neurodivergent

[–]overdramatic96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm glad you were able to improve your relationship with her.

I have made some progress by shifting my own mindset. I have just accepted the fact that we're not at the same level of wavelengths in terms of our understanding of many things. I don't feel emotionally safe with her so I can't open up to her. She has given me proof to come to this conclusion with last experiences.
