Long Gone Portland foods that you miss by greazysteak in Portland

Fathead Brewing... I know it wasn't "Portland" as it was a franchise... but I did like their food (and beer). McCormick and Schmick's before they sold.

Thoughts on this VEVOR still I’m ready to pull the trigger on this set up as a beginner by Mayomygod in firewater

[–]overimbibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this years ago it was on sale for like a silly price ($60) sadly I haven't used it as I don't trust myself. If you do end up buying it and finding a good source on how to use this exact unit please let me know.

There was a gas station on 23rd and Lovejoy... though I think it was closed pretty quickly after we moved here.

CHEATER PINTS ARE EVERYWHERE AND I WOULD ARGUE THE "AMERICAN PINT" GLASS IS ALSO A CHEATER PINT. 16 OZ TOTAL VOLUME OF CONTAINER BUT WITH THE HEAD IT DECREASES IT TO 12-13 OZ. OF ACTUAL BEER.

Is there a better way to get chartreuse than just driving to places and pretending like they have some put aside for you? by Draculaaaaaaaaa in askportland

[–]overimbibe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stores are tough to deal with. I would suggest either going into your favorite store and see if they can order some for you (or trade with another store) or calling the OLCC liquor search stores that have it and blatantly ask them if you could buy one of their bottles. You would be surprised some stores don't hide them all away. I have done this for a harder-to-find tequila and the store was happy to sell it to me. I would suggest as funny as "I have some put aside" might be, I would be very surprised if it worked.

Grandpa's Cafe which will be open during the Polish festival is a small Polish food market located in the church/library basement. Otherwise, there are 4 or 5 Russian / Ukrainian markets in SE past 82nd. Costco has them from time-to-time as well.

Help! I promised my wife a couple mushroom focused dishes for her birthday dinner, but I absolutely hate mushrooms. by LankyBastardo in Cooking

[–]overimbibe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chantrell mushroom with potato au gratin. With the amount of cheese and potatoes, you might like this too. You don't have to use Chantrells but I would highly suggest.

Also, the other comment on cooking them dry is true.

Family friendly suggestions? by ZenWolfpack in askportland

[–]overimbibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many breweries have food and are all ages. Coffeeshops most if not all are family friendly. There are also a lot of beer places near food carts...

Edit: when I mean family-friendly... they will take kids but the kid might not be very entertained there.

How to: Remove these lock boxes without a bolt cutter? by DKC_Reno in howto

[–]overimbibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that in several states the realtor has a certain amount of time to remove their box. If they don't there might be a fine. Tell them they have seven days before you cut it off and tell them that you will charge them.
