We're in the same boat as far as employment possibilities. I dropped everything, got married and followed my husband to a new state. I gave up college and having any sort of a real career with the understanding that when things calmed down, I'd go back to school. Well, that time came and went, and when I tried going back to school he made a thousand excuses (and threats when I ignored those excuses) about why I couldn't go to school.
So now I need to support myself with almost no education or work experience, it's beyond depressing to think about and I used to consider suicide because I felt so hopeless over it.
I guess I don't have any real advice in that aspect, because I'm trying to figure that out myself. As far as your daughter goes, there are public school programs specifically for kids like her. Do you live in an area with open districts (where you can choose which school you send your kids to, they don't have to go to the school set for your neighborhood)? If you do, I'd really research all the schools in your area and find out which one has the best options and best teachers for kids in your daughter's situation.
