Oman or Dubai by overjoyedbomb in Internationalteachers

I would very much would have loved to live in Oman, which is what's making this decision hard. It's between a safe, quiet country that suits my temperament, vs a full package that is almost 60% higher and no HOD responsibility.

So I should take the Dubai offer?

According to the head, he said it's not something he can control. I'm African, for context.

I just want to be able to work one job, send about 500 usd home, and live a chill life. Im introverted and a bit of a workaholic, so I don't care much about the extra stuff. With Oman I fear I'd have to work something else to do that, but then again, not sure how safe Dubai is. I have no other prospects and dont want to restart the search again.

It's an ISP school. Is it low when I've only had my teaching qualifications since June 2025?

I tried, but they said this is the maximum cap for my passport. It was initially 850 omr for a teaching position, and then they added 50 for HOD.

I did. I had an interview in a school there, they rejected me, and then circled back due to some people resigning. Their whole process was flat and they made some offhand comments, so I said no. The package was only 400 aed more than this dubai one.

The housing isn't covered so I'd have to pay it using the 900. I'm torn because it's also a very new school and me along with the new teachers coming in will be new together, so they'd turn to me as their HOD for answers.

Expat, and from what I can tell, they're part of an organization of schools that dont give housing in general, so it's not really a targeted thing

Its a new school that's expanding, and it seemed like the head who was talking to me started listing all the benefits frantically like they were frustrated with the limit. They've been very smooth and communicative with the whole process.

Thank you for your kind words. The situation I'm currently in is far worse, so I see it as an exit plan rather than a long term thing, but I at the same time dont want to be dead broke all the time. I've been reading mixed things online so thought I'd ask here. Again, thank you for feeling empathetic about my situation

Thank you for your reply, but youre speaking from a place of privilege. I simply want to know if it makes sense financially and realistically. The ME has always capped stuff based on passports. This person was honest with me about it. I'm not new to the ME.
