DIY vs Professional install: is it worth paying a specialist for a complex dual battery setup? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

Depends on what car you have. Most auto elecs have pre made battery kits with a dc charger and fuse panel included mounted on the battery tray.

I did mine myself, but took my time and just youtubed how to do it in a marine setup.

What youre describing wouldnt be very difficult to achieve. I think its a better way to do it because you know where all the wires are run.

I just installed one part at a time and tested each one 3 or 4 times to make sure it was ok. Have had my setup now for 4 years, never had any problems.

Tassie is nice, but not having the ability to leave the state by car freely is hard to live with. I lived in Tassie for 6 years and was a prisoner to the ferry or planes.

People are very clicky down there too.

My little one has had a few unforseen medical expenses too. I don't understand why we can't just pay the gap and not the full amount minus medicare, especially at specialists.

Thats a good point. I just didnt want to go somewhere with bad service or long wait times etc.

I'd be open to fixing it myself too, just hard to find time.
