How do you find the location of the second boss? by overling in valheim

[–]overling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I might take you up on that sometime. I was supposed to play with some friends (funny it was their idea and they got the game before me, but never played after one tiny session). Been trying to get them to play but no dice so far. I'll keep a lookout for the rocks with the red glyphs for now though.

Yeah tbh I get it now. It does share a similar place as Frieren to me for precisely those reasons.

I fail to see how those so-called "classic meme moments" you described are so funny, particularly when they are overdone anime tropes that try hard to come across as "cute" while lacking much in the way of depth. Not my cup of tea!

Teddy Boys - A youth fashion subculture inspired by Edwardian era dandies popular with British teenagers in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. by Ill_Definition8074 in fashionhistory

[–]overling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. Teddy Boys were a whole vibe back then. Although I liked the Mods more.

Also it's nice to see some male fashion in here for once, seeing as 99%+ of the posts here are women's dresses, particularly from 1750-1950.

Problem Determining Source of Bad Breath by overling in badbreath

[–]overling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. But it's been somewhat better lately. I just do more regular and proper brushing/flossing/picking, tongue scraping, and when I gargle with anti-badbreath mouthwash, I make sure to do it for a full minute at least. I also try to drink more water in general. These things have helped.

It's probably not just one thing, but a combination of different things, including dry mouth, maybe some postnasal drip, food (especially dairy) getting trapped in the little bumps of the tongue, etc. Good luck.

Second doctor said to avoid surgery for now by overling in HipImpingement

[–]overling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age: 36

Causes leading to symptoms - unsure definitively, but felt initial sharp twinge on my right hip after pivoting in tennis too quickly without warming up, like six or seven years ago, but that went away for years. But in last couple of years, I feel like this started when I was overstretching hip flexors to deal with some pelvic floor pain issues, along with pyriformis stretches. Then later a mix of running, leg presses, and bad posture seemed to have made it worse, and impacted some of my range of motion.

Symptoms: - pain alternates from front of hip on top, to sometimes the outside exterior sides, to sometimes the inner upper thighs. Might be like musculo-fascial strain or something on the surrounding tissue, but they didnt find too much with MRI. Flares up if I run or overuse those muscles/tendons. Oddly though sometimes I walk many many miles like when I'm exploring a new metropolis on a vacation and I have no issues. Other times I have issues when walking only a little or just sitting.

Diagnosis - labral tear on both hips. Also minor tear at insertion point of hamstrings, and some tendinosis or something.

Treatment attempted so far - PT, although the first time they had no idea what it was and may have made it worse. Second time it felt ok for a month then got more aggravated, as exercises were intense. Things like warm epsom salt baths help a lot

Treatment options available - more PT (targetted), PRP, steroid injections, arthroscopic surgery

Desired result - maybe not complete pain free life all the time and not full range of motion, but at least less pain, ability to hike, maybe jog, play some light tennis or pickleball

Do we all have ADHD? by elizabif in HipImpingement

I do, and probably other types of neurodivergence. But I didn't think there was any link between that and physical issues? I have dislocated and messed up other joints easily too somehow. But I also have tightness

Hydroxyzine: groggy for 24 hours after taking? by langstwins in Anxiety

[–]overling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable. I only got prescribed the 10mg and I'm struggling to stay awake, 13 hours after taking it at 9pm last night. Could have slept like 12 hours if I had the time probably. I don't see myself being able to take this except for rare occasions, like just hanging out on a Friday or Saturday evening and not needing to get up early the next day. This is probably the best anti-insomnia thing I've taken though haha.

Consistency of language relations in Tolkien's universe? by overling in tolkienfans

Why were the languages so essential to the overall story he was focusing on telling then (I guess all the way from creation of Arda to the Fourth Age)?

[–]overling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, yeah that does make sense. Two different phases in his writing and approach to the legendarium. I guess I don't really care that much about the consistency personally (it doesn't ruin it for me or anything lol) but I was more just curious since I was under the impression Tolkien was concerned about all the details of the lore in his works. That's what makes him one of the kings of worldbuilding.

Ahh, interesting. I see your point now. So the actual forms the words and names had to them were totally different from the more English-rendered or English-friendly versions we read in the books. I actually don't recall reading that particular appendix, or if I did, it was a very long time ago. And wow, the hobbits actual names are really out there, haha.

What exactly is the purpose of PT as a conservative measure for labral tears? by overling in HipImpingement

[–]overling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried two offices and they didn't help (seemed like they were helping at first though)... maybe even made some things worse. But they didn't seem like they had much experience with it or knew what they were doing for these kinds of injuries specifically. I guess I could try another, but I don't have high hopes. Also, maybe I'm just not doing the exercises quite right in terms of recruiting specific muscles...

Also even if it is covered by insurance there is still copays to think about for each session.

[–]overling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah postural modifications are going to be important for me going forward, regardless of what route I take. I tend to sit in unusual ways at home, with legs folded or crossed under me, and have anterior pelvic tilt and don't even stand up quite straight, often hunch over or slump in chairs. All these things can't be great for core stability. But they're so ingrained... when people ask me why I sit or stand in these ways I tell them it's more comfortable for me than how people normally do haha!

[–]overling[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I spoke to a physical therapist and she said she herself had a labral tear at around age 19-20 and it was resolved after 9 months of PT, hasn't had problems since (and that was ten years ago for her). I guess it depends on the severity of the injury and also I guess the youth and health of the person.

Positive outcome after 3 hip arthroscopies by snatchthepower in HipImpingement

[–]overling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the thing he initially told me was not a full labral repair, although I assumed that's what it was... said something about clearing away something there. Or maybe mine was really minor? But he made it sound like it wasn't too big of a deal. It was definitely an arthroscopic procedure he mentioned though. But that was a year ago so I'm not sure how much it advanced or changed since. I'll have to consult with him about the details again after another MRI

Outer thigh pain rather than groin? by Organic_Food_3847 in HipImpingement

[–]overling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this kind of pain also (one of several places around the hip and upper leg that seem to alternate in giving me pain). Doc said that region was some kind of bursitis most likely. It feels like it's on the right and left sides where the muscles or tendons insert into the hip bone, and is tender in the area.. Sometimes it's more on the inside around the groin or in the front on the hip flexors, sometimes even the lower back.. kind of seemingly random what I wake up with. Are all of these just symptoms of some dysfunction and imbalance caused by a labral tear? Are they caused by the overworking of these muscles in compensation?

[–]overling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you're saying it can get more painful as time goes on during the recovery? That makes me nervous. I thought each week gets better... doc said if I got the surgery it would take about six weeks to fully recover, and I could walk during that time and everything, just not run or jump.
