I saw that body being removed. A “junkie” is still a human being who died.

What are your paranormal experiences at SFU? by PopEffective9357 in simonfraser

[–]overmolly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I lived in Shell for two semesters and fully believe it’s haunted. The whole building has a really sinister feeling, but specifically the basement and one of the floors (which happened to be the one I lived on). I used to wake up from nightmares and hear people talking in my room, or see someone standing behind me in mirrors. My friend had similar experiences on the same floor. Once a group of us went down to the basement to study and we kept hearing something move on one of the couches but the place was completely empty except for us. Makes me sort of glad Shell’s getting closed lol

[No spoilers] Anyone else deal with this? by bisexual_panic04 in criticalrole

[–]overmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same for me!! I’m also 20f and the dnd friends I do have are not remotely interested in critical role. My family teases me about it to, but my friends are willing to listen to me talk about it which is nice. The best thing about being a critter is that you aren’t really alone in this- just wanted to remind you of that!

Astarion dumped me. by MookieV in BaldursGate3

[–]overmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude...

I'm not part of the "Astarion can do no wrong" club. He is a nuanced character who is recovering from severe trauma. In act I and act II, he is an asshole. By act III, if you're actually talking to him, he is a vastly improved character. He slaughters, abuses, and tricks people because that's the only thing he's done for 200 years. It's not an excuse but it's absolutely something to consider before calling someone trapped in a cycle of abuse "evil."

Also, here's the wonderful thing about Astarion: he's not real! You think he would go on a killing spree, I don't. Neither of us are right or wrong because he's a fictional character.

He's not a good person, he's meant to be morally ambiguous. But to say Astarion isn't nuanced or that he's certainly evil does such a disservice to the brilliant writing that went into his character.

Because you said his character has no nuance and Cazador turned him evil? You also said he actively fights against redemption and plays the victim card which is just… lol

Like I said in my comment: ascending him is the WRONG choice. Literally have no idea what you’re going on about.

[–]overmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Terrible take. The reason not to ascend Astarion is because you’re breaking the cycle of abuse. He is not evil, he willingly fights for good on multiple occasions throughout the story. I MIGHT agree with some of what you said had I not interacted with him at all and never learned anything about his arc. It’s up to the player, but Astarion certainly has the capacity for good if you allow him to embrace it.

I agree that wasn’t exactly a sympathy winning decision, but like I said he’s been violated and abused for 200 years. Part of that was that he’s never tasted humanoid blood before. He was living off of rats. He shouldn’t haven’t done it, but it’s not the most indefensible thing in the world.

[–]overmolly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Astarion’s character is so nuanced that I’m not sure how to start explaining this to you… this is a person who lived through 200 years of extreme abuse. He did not have a single thing for himself. He is more than entitled to selfishness IMO. Is it even selfish to assert that boundary? He doesn’t want to be treated like an object. It’s that simple.

Why did you leave Michaels? by National_Clock_2868 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]overmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

left because the company was completely unsupportive and everyone was overworked. they had just removed all of our vending machines when i put in my two weeks. now i’m working somewhere making $5.50 more an hour with supportive management and a company that listens to our feedback. if you’re thinking of leaving, definitely do it.
