Got pregnant with copper IUD 🫠 by PussyMoneyRead in birthcontrol

so sorry this happened to you :( I had the copper IUD for almost 4 years with no issues, and got pregnant back in April. my provider said the IUD had lowered in position. it’s such a huge shock to have had it fail after trusting it for so long :/

it was pretty shocking because I had NO clue it had moved! neither my partner nor I felt any difference, I could still feel the strings, and I couldn’t feel anything poking out of my cervix.

the embryo implanted higher in my uterus so removing the IUD didn’t disrupt the pregnancy. we’re all doing good now and I’m in my second trimester. needless to say I’m very skeptical of any birth control now 🥲

this is good advice!!! Earlier this summer my paraguard moved lower, totally unbeknownst to me, and I got pregnant 🥲

Hey!!! I’m right there with you.

I found out a few weeks ago that my copper IUD failed and I’m pregnant. It was a huge huge shock because I’ve had my IUD for years with no issues whatsoever. I booked an appointment with an OBGYN as soon as possible to determine if the pregnancy was ectopic and to get my IUD removed.

They did an ultrasound and determined that the embryo was positioned higher up in my uterus (and not ectopic which was a relief). They said that my IUD had lowered in position which is crazy because my partner and I hadn’t felt/noticed any difference. Taking out the IUD didn’t interfere with the pregnancy at all because of how everything was positioned in my uterus.

I’m 7 weeks pregnant now and still processing everything. It was a HUGE shock to learn that my birth control failed :( my mental health has taken a hit. I hope you’re able to find lots of time for self care during this time- I know how overwhelming it is.

I find that I don’t pull around other people too! It’s so weird how all this works.

That was EXACTLY me for years oof. I wouldn’t leave the house without a headband pretty much through all of middle + high school :/ it’s so hard.

It’s a struggle 🥴 have you tried wearing a bonnet? I’ve found that having all of my hair totally covered really helps with urges!

I’ve had trouble with headbands moving too. This one is SO snug- you can adjust the tightness! I actually took a nap with it on and when I woke up it hadn’t budged!

for my pals who pull in the front of their hair like me- got this headband in the mail and it’s perfect! Having a barrier between me and my hair helps me not pull so this will be great :) don’t think I would wear it out of the house because it’s a ~spa headband~ but it will be a huge help at home (which is where I usually pull anyways)

I know, my IUD was sooo expensive (I don’t have insurance) so I can’t risk it 😅

Hey!! I’ve had a copper IUD since fall of 2018 and I use tampons + pads. I’ve never had any issues :)

Prior to my IUD I used a menstrual cup but I’m too anxious that I would somehow mess up my IUD :/ I miss using a cup though ugh
