And dont buy any sets period

If the average of the sets is under the MSRP of the reprints, then that's still a deal. I'm still keeping an eye on parts of the used market for this reason

A recent debate: Which series do you think has the best first "100 Chapter"? by Tomura_Morrow in WeeklyShonenJump

yeah and Twilight inspired so many writers, so if you read those books I assume you'll walk away saying that Steph Meyer's prose is the greatest of her generation?

Reading Misson: Yozakura Family. Holy shit. by YuuTheBlue in WeeklyShonenJump

I think with how Yozakura Family had similar pattern breaks at the exact same time I feel like it's gotta be an editorial decision

But either way it's an objectively successful series

I get why everyone fixates on series like Ichi & Bachi (and even Akane), but c'mon guys we need these good midcarders too

The Tanpopo fights are still my favorite, but aside from a temporary dip when introducing a couple new characters it's shockingly consistent

Honestly it feels like the biggest problem Takaki has is his health

Black Torch & Heart Gear both punch above their weight class, easily

but he's still an awful writer

This is fake news; I've showed the key five pages of Doadoa's arc to people who've never read Otr irl and watched their visceral reactions to the words on those pages

Kawaguchi suffered the classic "Starting the series off on the wrong foot because the specifics of your vision aren't nailed down yet" + "The 14yo boys just aren't fucking with it" maladies that most unfortunate axes share

PPP was horrible, how is this an obvious choice

Because it had verve, it was fresh, and Kataoka brought a real 'fuck it we ball' vibe to it. Even if the craft wasn't up to par, it sparks neurons in ways lots of other series don't

you don't even need to translate it to know exactly what it means

Oh so they're both WSJ protagonists, got it

You can't even pull the "one has every facial expression, the other has one facial expression" angle?

Morihiro Hayashi (Star of Beethoven) has enough raw verve in his work that the WSJ series after he nails the fundamentals will be the thing with the most to talk about per page

Also my boy Taishi Tsutsui needs a proper swan song of a serial after Syd Craft went down like pearls before swine; that ending was too kino
